Desktop Computer Vs Laptop With Docking Station

This Apple Thunderbolt 2 cable, was the cable needed to connect an older desktop MacPro(late 2013) computer to a OWC Thunderbolt 3 docking station(note: a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 adaptor is needed to connect the computer to a Thunderbolt 3 docking station. Using this docking station with my Dell XPS15. One Thunderbolt connection is now all I need to have my laptop connected to two QHD monitors (one of them widescreen), desktop speakers, keyboard/mouse, and a backup hard drive. That still leaves a few ports available for additional accessories. The only thing that would possibly make this dock better would be the SD card readers that some other brands include. It's nice to be able to just unplug one connection to go portable - and plug back in for a desktop-like experience. So far, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

If like me you have an ultra book style laptop or newer macs, everything on the computer is connected through the usb-c ports… great, they are fast and can do tons of stuff, but most of my other stuff isn’t usb-c. Also, even though I have a big desktop, I don’t want to constantly send files or copy them to work more comfortably on it, that’s where I really love this. I really love how docking station works as a 1 plug transformation into a desktop. It has its own power supply, so no need to plug your charger in, it works with my Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and external drives, all plug and play and all through the single usb-c. I have also set it up to share my desktop monitor… so I’ve just plugged everything in and leave it on my desk at home, so all I need to do is plug the one cable in, and for the monitor, switch it over and laptop becomes desktop. If like me you have to move around a lot with you laptop but much prefer a desktop, this is what you need, I really do love it! It’s nicely made and size wise it fits nicely under my monitor and has loads of connections so it should be perfect for most needs. I highly recommend this!

I teleworked for a year trying to use my small, work laptop. Since I work for the government, I had no other options. When it became apparent that we would continue to telework, I decided to set myself up like my work office. I was assigned a new HP computer and immediately ordered the docking station that would accommodate it. We cannot use the USB ports on our computer for anything but a mouse (yes, we have to use a wired mouse!) so the docking station allows me to plug in two 24" screens, my external hard drive, my mouse and keyboard. It's just great to have all of those wires behind my system and my setup now is as good as it was when I was working in the office. This was money well-invested!

Ordered this docking station, came in the next day. It's small, and plugs into the computer/laptop via USB-C Cable, which is nice because it allows me to put my laptop in a more convenient area, and of course takes up less space. Works great too.

Great docking station. I use it to display two monitors and the laptop screen.

I USE THIS IN MY DESKTOP & LAPTOP AND LOVE THE FACT THAT IT IS 256GB VS MANY OTHER BRANDS THAT ARE 250GB & 240GB!
