I am a production company owner, and producer director. We are using the Astra 1X1 for interviews, and fill lighting. The quality of the light in terms of spectrum are far superior than the cheaper models that tend to be somewhat green cast, love the adjustable bi-color feature and dimmer. very good construction and electronics. Extremely bright for most situations. Wish it came standard with A/B adapter plate rather than an upgrade, but overall very impressed.

I did a lot of research before choosing this tripod. As the Executive Producer/Director of a TV show that requires us to be at a different location each episode, it has proven to be exactly what I needed, not to heavy yet stable enough to hold the video and audio equipment we require. I would definitely consider buying another for our camera 2 crew.

I got this light for my wife, who is a theater director/producer. She needs a small, dependable light for taking notes during rehearsals and performances, and the Mini Maglite is perfect for that. It is very compact and easy to carry around, and it is unobtrusive to use. The ability to vary the beam pattern from flood to pencil is very valuable, allowing her to tailor the light output depending on her situation. The light is plenty bright, run times with alkaline batteries are good, and the light is simple and reliable.

I'm an actor/screenwriter/director/producer/videographer working on smaller projects that nonetheless need to be of professional quality. I like to use available/natural light whenever possible and then fill in with a few instruments, and this light so far is ideal for that due to its adjustable color temperature and intensity. It seems very sturdily built but it still surprisingly lightweight. I paired it with the suggested light stand and I am completely satisfied with the purchase -- light enough to be easily mobile and low profile for a skeleton crew, but without having to skimp on quality. Of course I can't yet comment on long-term durability, but the build quality seems very high. I bought the barn doors to go with it but they don't control the light perfectly -- still, they are useful for protection and I use them to throw some homemade diffusion over. No complaints and glad I bought it!

Crews I've worked with and I have stuck with certain brands because they've never failed to provide professional results. So, I'm very particular about the quality and performance of new gear... I bought this at the last minute to compliment a Sony FDR-X3000 action camera. Of course I read other customer reviews for reference. However, you never truly know that an untested device will meet your particular needs until you actually use it. Well, I have been pleasantly surprised to say the least! Yes, there are certainly more expensive microphones that will add even better quality audio. Nonetheless, for the price and the fly on the wall behind the scenes type of documentary I purchased it for.... WOW. It clearly picks up voices outdoors from a car length or more away. The included squirrel's tail wind noise suppressor does wonders! This is my first Rode product and I am completely enamored with it. Far exceeds my expectations!!!
