I had a discount UV filter on my digital SLR. The Hoya filter has improved optics and I am looking forward to using it with my camera. Hoya is a quality company. You should always use a UV filter to protect your expensive camera lens from scratches. A filter is a lot more inexpensive to replace than a lens.
