Needed this for charging from a micro-USB cable. Works great for that.

I have another review that I wrote about this mic, but B&H's website doesn't appear to let me update that review. I've now been using this mic almost daily for over a year. The audio is crisp and clear, background noise is kept to a minimum, and people on the other end of the meeting/phone call give compliments on the detail that this mic captures. I used to use a condenser mic, but that also had the annoying feature of picking up a lot of 60Hz hum. This mic doesn't do that and I didn't have to make any adjustments to the room either. For the person who mentioned they couldn't fit it in a shockmount, it has one internally. That is why the mic is the size that it is. For those complaining about the USB port, mine hasn't had any issues. I accidentally bent the micro usb connector on the cheap cable they shipped with it and the mic survived just fine. The cable, on the other hand, was useless after that. I solved this problem by finding a 90 degree USB adapter so that the connector isn't pointing straight out the back of the mic. It now sits mostly flush and swiveling the mic is more likely to cause the adapter to disconnect at the other end. If your laptop, like mine, is usb-c only, don't try to buy long usb-c to usb-c cables. They are crazy expensive. Instead, try to buy a usb-c to mini or micro usb-b cable. They are much cheaper. My setup is usb-c to micro usb (10 feet), then an adapter from micro-usb to usb-c (1 inch), and then finally a short usb-c to 90 degree micro-usb adapter (6 inches).

Buy a longer cord like the USB 3.0 A/ML to MICRO B/ML CABLE - 3'

The cable is well made, not flimsy. The USB & micro USB plugs plugged in smoothly with no struggle. Recommended.

By far the best and most reliable USB to Micro-B cable I've found. Frustration takes a back seat to quality.

Great little box once understood what it does NOT do. This should be called Decimator MD-LX HDMI/SDI Pass Through Converter. Replaces BMD Micro converters. Passes 2 channel audio, by default. Can be configured to pass 8 channel audio. Max Channels for HDMI. Cannot reassign audio channels, just pass them through. All connections are Active, also be default. Defaults to SMPTE Level A. Can be changed from software Control Panel. Download from Decimator website. Whatever signal comes in, stays same going out. Works up to 1080p60. All connections are active. LED Light on each end identifies Input. EX SDI Input or HDMI Input. See Legend on Device. Simple! Informal testing indicated audio is clear. No static! Better to own one of these than 1 each of BMD Micro Converters. Unless you need both at same time, this is still better. Works, out of the box. Can be Powered from USB to PC; USB to Outlet Adapter or... Battery! It's USB Powered! Nice touch! Fragile connection though in a rough environment. Can be Mounted by Micro Clamp to Light Stand. Or use Tether Tools StrapMoore. We use with our ATEM 4K Video Switch for SDI Multiview (SDI to HDMI Monitor) out to 2nd SDI Multiview (SDI to HDMI Monitor). Yes, requires 2 converters for that! And yes, we have the BMD Micro converters. Both of them! Hope this helps!

I started with the Micro, but soon desired some of the features found in this shotgun mic. I felt this version was a good balance between the micro and the more expensive NTG/Pro versions. I love the improved shockmount, a single mount is annoying since the mic bounces a lot with one mount. I also dig how versatile this mic is. I can use it on my cams or plug it into my computer for voiceovers. The pickup is much improved over the Micro, sound is more full, and overall I wish I had just started with this mic instead. It handles close and somewhat far audio pickup well, fulfilling pretty much all of my nearfield audio needs. I mostly use the 3.5mm input, but the USB output offers more granular control via RodeCentral. I like that's powered by USB/3.5mm, battery based mic's run the risk of running out at inopportune times. The only con is that I wish they'd provided the nicer coiled 3.5mm cable found in the Micro, but the supplied cable is fine.

Ok where do I start, oh I know...heres what comes in the box: -Zoom Q2N4K -Guide/Warranty Info -Lens Cap and Lens Hood -1 pair of AA batteries Whats left? Well for starters youre going to need a micro sd card, I recommend visiting Zooms site and viewing their list of tested compatible cards. I went with the Delkin 64gb - V30 - UHS - I card (DDMSDW66064G). Suits my needs for now as Im just getting started. Cables. The one youll probably need the most is the micro USB to USB cable, chances are you might already have an extra one especially if youre an Android user. Micro HDMI to HDMI is also useful. Lastly a couple 1/8in audio cables, one for incoming and the other for outgoing audio. The external in is where the Zoom shines as you have the option to record between 44.1k 16bit audio and 48k - 96k 24bit audio, and the audio is clean. The mics within the unit also sound great, did a test run in the car with the stereo on low volume playing music with heavy 808 bass, not only was my voice clear but the background music was well pronounced including the bass which still had a nice round sound even at low volume. Videos. Well this is the part where I’m still learning. So far, I’ve been recording using 720p the most to maximize space of my card. Study the settings and make sure your subject is properly lit to those settings, and you’ll be fine. For those looking for the best quality video in 1080p and 4k buy the fastest recommended UHS - II card. Bottom line. This is a great unit, which would probably cost a lot more if it had things like wifi and bluetooth. Not a deal breaker for me, don’t really need it as I’m generally shooting then connecting to edit, upload, airdrop, etc. Also this thing eats batteries but it can also be USB powered. I use rechargeable batteries for short shoots and my USB charger for longer shoots.   5 stars all the way. Took my Instagram and YouTube beat videos to the next level sound wise.

I had been using a USB audio interface to feed my M-Audio monitor speakers from my Mac. I rarely used the jnput functionality (XLR inputs for mics, etc.). It then stopped working - would not stay connected. After trying everything I could think of (cables, usb ports on my computer, ...) I figured I needed a new device and looked for an output only device. I found this one. It's rock solid and delivers great sound. It does this one thing and does it well. Plus, I like that it draws power from the USB cable, so no extra power cable is required. I've not tried it with headphones, but for some, it may be a problem that there's no separate volume control for the headphone output.
