I use it for video journalism/documentary filmmaking. There are other options, of course, but this one is just about what I need right now.

I use this for documentary filmmaking. The head is completely smooth and well built. The legs are very stable and easy to use.

17 years of filmmaking documentary and never used this until now. Comes on every shoot for endless options. Not stoked on the plastic but found it light and strong. No brainer for any kit. Just buy it you will not regret it.

This is an obvious extension for a camera I believe will be very dominant in the documentary filmmaking field. But it is equally clear that we need a good cage, good filters and maybe even extension battery recharging from a small accessory attached to the cage -- and yes, this filter accessory is ONLY the very beginning. Sturdy, well made and for me it will always be attached with the sun shade.

I've use the ECM-77B for broadcast journalism, documentary filmmaking, and have even used it for off-camera voiceover work. Totally solid build quality, small and inconspicuous to use, and the sound is flawless. It's worth mentioning that the semi-hardshell padded case it comes with is a huge perk of the mic - it keeps this little guy safe when you're schlepping around gear to & from shoots, projects, etc.

Overpriced, but welcome to filmmaking. Read in shut up & shoot documentary guide that pistol grips are handy. Switching from the Rycote INV mkiii, this was much easier to screw onto my ktek boompole. Also it folds for storage, can fit my sennheiser mkh50 pistol grip in a porta brace csb9 bag when you fold the handle. Feels ergonomic. Added length on a boompole and decent balance for handheld. initial impression: seems worth it, saves time.

Was introduced to Tascam's product at a Duke's documentary filmmaking class. The professors loved the peace of mind of recording two channels at a lower dB as a backup. I was impressed how well at the ease of (under camera) tripod mounting and the quality of the built-in microphones.

I do a lot of commercial documentary style filmmaking out in Napa Valley for wineries. I also do real estate and wedding videography. A lot of run and gun.    In most cases I am racing the clock with little time to shoot. Setting up and finding an outlet for my Arri lights wasnt practical for my style of filmmaking. This light is extremely mobile with the option of controlling the color temperature. I find my shooting location, pop it up and adjust the settings very quickly. It gives me exactly the extra POP that I need to keep my product looking professional. Battery last forever too! For the price... I dont think you can beat this deal. Its a must for run and gun filmmakers.
