Does Ipad Mini Use Lightning Cable

I had an older 5th gen iPad mini that used the older 1st gen lightning-based Apple Pencil. The battery in my pencil finally died, so I needed a new one. It was a bit confusing as to whether this pencil was the correct replacement, since it mentions USB-C, rather than lightning, but I can confirm that this is indeed the 1st gen lightning-based pencil, that just happens to have a lightning to USB-C adapter mentioned in the product title.

Just plugged it into the lightning connector of my iPad, with an HDMI cable it connected instantly to a projector. Seemed a bit pricey but Apple connectivity, quality, and guaranteed compatibility is worth it. A great travel accessory for connecting to hotel TVs.

I wanted the kids to be able to watch YouTube videos on a TV, this adapter made it happen. It was easy to connect my iPad to the television. Just insert the lightning plug into the iPad (or iPhone), connect to the TV via an HDMI cable and connect a lightning charging cable to the adapter and watch. Whatever is on the iPad shows up on the TV. The kids use the iPad as a controller and both can watch full size videos.

Solid, easy to adjust from iPad to iPad mini. Locks up tight and holds. Use it on my tripod, Glide Cam, and Ronin in conjuction with CamRanger wifi connected to Canon 5D III.

Use it to record sounds coming from my iPad Mini 2. Connects perfectly in the iPad's head phone jack, and then to the XLR input of my sound card. No problems.

Does the exact job we needed to stream Hulu through an iPad mini to a big screen.

Use w/ a Blackmagic Designs Ursa Mini Pro 4.6K.  Does the job just fine and at 1/3 the cost of a year ago.  Got 2 more for laptop.  Really excels there too.

I have owned every generation of iPad and have become a big fan of the Minis - great for travel, great for reading at night, and large enough screens to view photos, movies, etc. However, they never had the processing power and graphics capability of the larger models - until now. The new Mini Gen 6 has it all - great screen (now with very small bezel for greater viewing area) and now real horsepower. The first indication of that was doing updates to apps. Normally, the last Mini would take quite some time to process updates once downloaded. This new Mini blazes through updates much faster. Finally a Mini that sacrifices very little in comparison to the larger iPads. The swipe-only operation takes a little getting used to, but poses no disadvantages I can see so far. Just bear in mind this iPad (and all the other newer ones) requires a USB C charging cable (included). If you, like me, have tons of the old Lightning cables, they won't work. Additionally, many non-Apple USB C cables will not support charging, so be aware. Play it safe and use an Apple cable (comes with the cable and charger of course). As a side note, I have the new Apple folio case for this generation and it's pretty darn cool too. Great product, great B&H service!
