I use this to connect anything with a standard headphone cable to my iPhone Lightning port (older selfie stick, older Square reader, earbuds and headphones).

The killer app for this device (for me) was that connecting the receiver to an iPhone with the usb-c to lightning cable maintains discrete stereo separation for recording to several video applications. This is an adapter, NOT a cable. That said, as an adapter it does it's job well. I have used it to plug my iPhone (Lightning) into my PC (both USB-C and USB-A) to transfer files and it worked without a hitch. Useful as an adapter, but not long enough to be called a cable by any means.

This charger had no problem quickly charging an iPhone 8 using a ToughTested USB-A to Lightning cable also purchased from B&H.

In order to use my old iPhone 5c with the Rode Micro microphone, this cable was necessary. I adapted it to my iPhone 7 lightning port as a test and it didn't work. I didn't investigate because the plan was to use the mic with the old phone anyway, so it might have worked and could have been my set up.
