Does Msi Gaming Laptops Read Cd Rom Drive

The size of an external CD-Rom drive with more than capable resources

Installed this as the master drive in a new entry level MSI gaming laptop that came with a 256MB M.2 SSD . I'm 60 years old and by no means a gamer. My games are flight simulators. And, being an old geek I prefer to see a hard drive in a box so to speak. The original M.2 drive is still in the laptop as a filing cabinet for my less used junk but I am very happy with the performance of this Crucial drive!

Loaded the included CD ROM software that set up in minutes with my laptop's WIN 10 Home OS. Especially like the instant PDF button located on the front of this scanner. So far it's great! The price of this scanner was so reasonable that I'm sorry I waited this long to buy one.

I have used Maxell CD-Rs for recording music in the past and the last batch had a lot of duds.� Using different software and machines didn't help. So I tried these Verbatims and the Verbatim Digital Vinyl CD-ROM, which are 1/3 the price, and so far, so good with both. Due to the high price, I think I will indeed be using these more as archival disc, and the Digital Vinyl for everyday use.� These are shiny on both sides, but you can write on the top side with a CD-ROM marking pen. When I get to the last one without any problems, then I'll be able to recommend them without hesitation.

I also wanted an external CD/DVD drive and this product was a good bet. If I need to read / write a CD/DVD I have the option of using this drive. Works seamlessly with my IMAC.

The SuperDrive is not for everyone but if you still need to read or create CD/DVDs then this is a great looking drive that works great. The only problem is that the case doesn’t match the color of the new Mac Mini which is a great shade of Space Gray. There may be cheaper drives available but none will match the beauty of Apple’s drive. The price is modest.

I figured it will be perfect way to a boost for gaming or a seamless workflow for heavy graphics, the 980 is a smart choice for outstanding SSD performance - and it's all backed by an NVMe interface and PCIe 3.0 technology. The install was very easy, as they say "plug and play". You can use the optional Samsung Magician software with it which is pretty neat and useful as well. The drive itself states read speeds up to 3500Mb/s however after doing some testing I was not able to replicate that kind of speed, however all the applications loaded up quickly and after doing some transfers back and forth, it worked amazingly fast. If you still use a spinning drive I would absolutely recommend replacing it with this SSD drive (or even better with a Pro version of it), you will see your OS boot up in seconds, read and write speeds will be quick which will improve your work flow. Samsung is a reliable brand for SSD media and this NVMe M2 is an awesome alternative to any other competition in this area. I received this product at a discounted price for my honest opinion.

I've had 3 Asus gaming laptops, and this is all I'll buy.

I installed into a MSI B450 Gaming Plus and it has sped up boot time.

Have bought this to use as a reader.A reasonbly price 'player' of watching blu rays,dvds and to listen to cds.I have no concern about speed of the burning process as the faster you burn,there will be a high chance of a buffer over run.Never the less,as far as burning onto blank disc,I don't use them.I am using this to rip CDs and DVDs onto external harddrive.I have discovered that the external box can accomodate other brands of drive.And it is far cheaper to just buy a replacement drive than a standalone 'rom'. Besides you do not have to worry about the lack of usb power as this product comes with a separate power supply and will not draw the power from the usb power thus it will not damage your equipment.However,if the external psu does gets damage after long term of use (wear and tear),I can always get one of those 'audiophile' psu for this external box dvd.Psu that comes with this,is multi voltage.The box can also use to accomodate a harddrive besides CD rom,DVD rom and Blu Ray.But you need a metal cage to accomodate a 3.5 drive and it is not practical as the drive will heat up so,it is better a buy a stand alone external drive as they have a built in fan.This box does not have one.On a contrary,fan will introduce noise into the system.So to sum up,yes it is a nice product and get one while it is still available as no one makes an aluminium case these days with a separate psu.
