Does Sigma Have Oss

This is my first lens on my first full-frame camera, and I am a relatively inexperienced photographer, but I can say that it's been a pleasure to work with! I originally bought the Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS. It produced very pretty images but it arrived with major dust in the lens, so I returned it and decided to try the Sigma for comparison. Turns out it's actually better! Overall impressions: image quality is way beyond my skill level, construction quality is top-notch, and the buttons and switches are straightforward (although I would prefer if the AF/MF switch wasn't quite so stiff). AF is pretty slow when focusing on a very close subject, but this was true on the Sony as well. MF works fine, though as others have noted, the Sony feels a bit more responsive. Everyone goes on about how cool the AF clutch mechanism on the Sony but it's actually really stupid, because the MF operation is absolute in that when you switch to manual, the lens moves back to wherever it was the last time you were on manual. It is therefore completely impossible to use AF to get close and then switch to MF to fine-tune. Whereas on the Sigma, this is quite easy due to the relative operation of the MF ring. Unlike the Sony this lens does not have optical stabilization, but honestly I didn't notice any real difference in clarity, and I shoot almost exclusively handheld. Perhaps my A7 III's sensor stabilization is to thank, or perhaps my grip is so shaky that even the Sony OSS can't salvage things. The only real downside with the Sigma is the ridiculously large focus ring. It is extremely hard to rest the camera on anything without moving this ring. The ring on the Sony is smaller and is not rubber-coated, which is just as easy to turn when I want to, but harder to move accidentally. In summary, great lens! If cost is a concern I would definitely say it's a better value than the Sony 90mm. 5 |

You do have options, Sony's 35mm f1.8 oss, Viltrox 33mm f1.4, and this Sigma. All can be that first general prime lens you get after the kit lens for your Sony APS-C cameras. However, as I have tried them all, you will probably discover for most things the Sigma will be your best bet. The Sony has OSS which can be helpful for video with A6000, 6100, 6300, 6400, ZV-E10 (6500 and 6600 have IBIS). And the Viltrox gives you another option that used to be the cheapest price of the three, though current Sigma price of $264 beats it. The Sigma is built well, has the F1.4 which is awesome for that everyday walkaround lens (45mm FF equivalent - so close to a normal lens). This has a good weight to it and don't find it too heavy for even the ZV-E10 where I use it as a B roll lens for video. I use it as a walkaround on the A6400. Take this lens and the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 for a lightweight travel kit. As for not having the OSS, for video I use it on the ZV-E10 with Catalyst Browse which works fine. 5 |

Couldn't be happier. Does exactly what it's intended to do. Excellent build quality. Works great with the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8, allowing for a whopping f1.1 aperture! Nicely done Metabones. 5 |

Threads onto the lens nicely, just like the other B+W filters I own. Does not cause vignetting on my Sigma 50-100mm and works well with the lens cap. 5 |
