Every serious nature photographer should really have a polarizer in his or her kit. This one by Nikon is very high quality and very slim. Even when used with my 12-24mm ultra wide angle lens (on a D300), vignetting is not an issue. Some people recommend against using polarizers with UWA lenses because the sky may become unevenly darkened. However, that's something that's not usually too hard to correct in post processing. What IS hard (or impossible) to fix in post processing are harsh glares on foliage or reflections on water. I have found high quality circular polarizers like this one to be indispensible for such situations. You will of course lose some light, so don't use it when you don't need it, and be prepared to use a tripod (which you should be doing anyway) when you do need it.

Picked up the 11-24 at the Post Office; took few shots of the steering wheel; and drove right into the Talkeetna mountains. Having used fisheyes for year I thought I would know what to do with an 11mm rectilinear...but this lens is different. My instant favorite lens for off-trail Alaska landscapes. Image quality and sharpness are excellent. Distortion is very low. Makes incredible panoramas that don't look stretched out. Heavy...but it's also a 20, 17, 14,13 and 12mm! Once in my hands weight doesn't matter! Use the 11mm most but love the zoom!

I truly use this backpack EVERY day! I use it for my daily bag to the office, and for my photography work as well. Excellent bag!
