I’ve been using IK Multimedia audio software for years on a Windows PC platform. This was my first hardware purchase in order to use my iPad as a portable recording studio. You can use the iRig HD 2 to get extremely low latency when using and recording with your iOS apps (and also Windows PC platform) but my primary reason for this purchase is to have a robust yet compact portable audio interface for recording my guitar. IK Multimedia is well known for being makers of high quality audio software and hardware and this inexpensive interface is no different. It’s made of robust plastic and will allow you to connect to a several connecting ports like iOS lightning interface, USB, USB-C and also comes with the necessary cables for each! I plug my guitar into the iRig and run a cable from the amp output direct to my amp. I then plug a lightning cable from the iRig to my iPad. I use an app from Jam Origin called MIDI Guitar 2 which allows me to use my guitar as a real-time MIDI controller to then play my virtual synths. I then run the headphone output of my iPad to the monitors for the accompanying sounds. This is a great inexpensive interface that you will get a lot of mileage from.

I have used G3's for the past 5 years of wedding films and have run into frequency issues on a few occasions with DJs, or nearby airports and fire-stations. Nothing worse than importing your audio for edit and finding horrible frequency pops or interruptions. These DR-10Ls are game changers. Fresh batteries gives you anywhere from 6-8 hours of recording (I think they say 10 hours) on dual record mode. Dual record mode lets you set your microphone pretty hot and records a dual track at a lower level for anytime they clip the audio. This is great for groom's mic so that you can pic up Bride as well. Only thing I wish they would have changed would be a way to monitor (visually) the mic level while recording. You can see the level before you start recording so just get a good test then start record and forget about it! It's that simple.

I have only two inputs left on my audio interface for keyboards. I have two keyboards. This little beauty lets me play and record either. The real beauty comes from switching to A for my sweetening keyboard while using keyboard B as the MIDI master. That way I can record the audio from my sweetening keyboard with the Sescom switch set to A at the same time as recording several MIDI sound modules that are outputting the sounds from they synths my B (MIDI master) keyboard is playing through. By recording the MIDI, I can go back and run this MIDI recording into keyboard B to record its sound (that had to be left out due to the switch being in the A position for the initial recording. Simply marvelous! This little switch has made a HUGE difference.

I don't know much about audio recording yet but the sound quality that comes out of this little lav mic seems great! I even used it to record sound from my Ukelele and had fantastic results! I can't wait to get a second one!

Whether you're looking to record yourself playing instruments, singing, or podcasts, the Yeti offers the best bang-for-your-buck when it comes to USB microphones. Using the microphone couldn't be more simple; just plug in the USB cable, open recording software of your choice, and in minutes you'll be recording some surprisingly clear and crisp audio. On the topic of audio quality, one must mention the top-notch audio recording capabilities of the microphone. The Yeti uses a three-capsule design which allow for a wide array of recording patterns. The audio comes out well-balanced, picks up bass well, and produces most frequencies with excellent clarity. With that said, do not expect it to be able to record CD quality audio, but for a USB mic, it sure has just about every other beat. The only con I can really think of is the Yeti's size, which might make it difficult to transport. With that said, the Yeti is very well built and features a rugged metal body and stand.

I recently wrote and self-published a book. I wanted to record an audio version of the book. After receiving quotes for $4,000 and up from professional recording studios I decided to try it myself. I did a lot of research and talked with friends in the movie business as well as checking on Wirecutter. First of all, when it arrived it was so easy to use, no troubleshooting, just plug and play! I watched a couple of videos on how to edit with Audacity software and poof I was recording and editing my own work. My voice sounded better than I had expected, good quality sound and I was able to edit the highs and lows but still sound human. I love this mic, it's my new best friend. It's also a way to reach people during this period of isolation related to a worldwide pandemic. Thank you Blue Yeti!

PROS: Great sound quality Compact and rugged Versatile (configurable settings) Built in tripod mount (1/4 threaded hole) Intuitive user interface Available in several colors (if that is important for your use case) CONs: None. Note: If you record outdoors, purchase a foam or fur cover (they are available from B&H or Amazon) I now own 2 of these audio recorders. I've used the 1st one for several years and been very satisfied, to capture audio during interviews (as both backup for wireless microphone audio captured in-camera, and to capture background sound from around the person being interviewed for use in post process audio mixing). But I sometimes need to support recording of two events at the same time so I purchased this 2nd Zoom H1n. I need a recorder with wide area sound pickup, and good sound quality, and with good signal to noise ratio allowing me to boost up volume in post processing when needed. And I need an intuitive user interface for setting up and monitoring recording volume. The Zoom H1n is perfect. Just the right amount of configuration settings (not overloaded with useless fluff, and easy to select and verify important setting such as recording format). Batteries seem to last forever. One important thing to note: the recording will not work with SD cards larger than 32G. This is not a problem since 32G card can record 10 hrs even with the highest bit rate file format, but you won't want to purchase a 64G or larger card for use with this audio recorder.

I use this to record ideas, field recording, better quality audio for video recording. Sounds great! Easy to use. Well written owner's manual. I have been using Tascam products since I bought my Porta Two cassette four track in 1986. Another winner by Tascam.

This recorder is much more than just for DSLR audio recording. It can be used to record any audio input from a microphone or line level in very high quality. The equivalent of a high quality reel to reel deck in a compact size with digital storage.
