Door Camera Without Doorbell

I had installed my door camera and hooked it up to my existing doorbell. The doorbell worked only half the time and caused the chime box to hum. I ordered the Lorex chime box to see if that would work better and it did. Easy to set up and works every time. Lots of odd chime options, but at least there are choices. I would recommend it if you are having issues with your existing chime not working properly.

You install the doorbell/camera mount on the door frame and plug in the Box it comes with. Then installed the app on your phone. Camera is super clear. Sends alerts to your phone when it detects movement. I feel so much better knowing if someone is coming near my front door, even if it is my husband or I walking by it. Hoping this will hope with missing packages. But I feel confident it will.

I used to have the competitors version. If the person coming to your door was quick enough, they could ring the doorbell and get out of the way before the camera kicked in. This defeated the purpose. With Nest's recording active all the time, this no longer happens. No more mystery rings or deliveries. Installation was really straightforward.

Brilliant "smart" doorbell. Initially I wanted an outdoor camera at my front door, but the Nest Hello's image quality made it a perfect alternative, plus you get all the added benefits of a smart doorbell. Set up is a little more involved but easy with the instructions. The app is intuitive and powerful. A Nest Aware subscription is a must however.

I love my ring doorbell. I can see packages being delivered and people coming to my door, that's awesome.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] this doorbell was easy to install. I used some command double sided tape for a day just to make sure I liked my position. Then used screws to put it into place. It was easy to connect to the app with the step by step instructions. The picture is very clear, kt has an amazing camera. I love that you can talk to people at your door through the app and never answer the door. No more salesman for me! This is a must have for every home. I recommend this.

We did not have a doorbell system. The door chime works great. It is loud. I had to use the chime reset button to get it to connect to the doorbell.

I have always been wary of adding more technology to my home out of concern for my privacy, but this system is private and secure. All videos are stored in your home (not the cloud) and can be deleted by you at any time. Setup was fairly easy. The directions aren't very detailed but getting started is pretty straightforward. I love that the device serves as a doorbell, an intercom, and a camera. I can do a live view to see what is happening at my door, even when I am not home. I can also review videos to see what happened during the day. The night-vision is pretty good and I like that it lights up at night when someone approaches. There are so many settings including package detection and reminders, ignoring non-human movement, automatically alerting you and responding if someone is loitering outside your door, and ignoring certain areas so the device is not triggered by cars driving by. The options are endless, perfect for the differing needs of different homes. I was also worried about it needing to be connected to the internet since my internet is sometimes spotty but it hasn't overloaded my internet or caused outages. Overall, I am pleasantly surprised by how this doorbell strikes the perfect balance of ensuring privacy while providing numerous options for security!

I had been looking for a doorbell solution but my entry way is small and it needed to be installed where the old doorbell was for the wiring (at right angle to door opening). With the "horizontal angled base bracket" it can sense someone walking up to the door and I can clearly see them on the porch. Everyone at home can also see who's at the door with the phone APP. Another great LOREX product.

The Nest Hello is by far the best video doorbell you can buy, with smart and useful features such as the ability to silence your indoor doorbell chime (thus relying on the app and smartphone notifications), as well as the ability to sync with your Google Home to announce when people are at the door (think being on your second floor and being able to hear that someone is at the door). Worthy buy!
