PROS: While I have not used the RTSP features the SDI - SDI performance has been amazing low latency. Truly a frame or two. The build quality is excellent. By and large the device just works. CONS: The user interface is limited and awkward if you want to go play with settings. Boot up times are long (I am guessing there is a full linux based OS hiding in there somewhere.) If left on for a long time (weeks) strange behavior creeps in that a reset fixes. 5 |

Had an issue with the audio getting distorted when using the RTSP server. Opened a ticket and Ken from Magewell quickly provided a new version of firmware that resolved the issue. The video this encoder provides at H.264 8Mbps is better than what I get with an el-cheapo encoder that bought from Amazon at 16Mbps. 5 |

Bought this to provide better video stream than my JVC GY LS300's RTSP feed (it has a big delay and sketchy feed). This is magnificent uncompressed quality. Already have a NewTek connect Spark, but this makes production a breeze. Been using it with a Church client's live stream and convinced them to go with Bird Dog products. They're not gonna regret it. 5 |
