Doorbell Camera Start Recording

Exactly what I needed to start recording for YouTube.

I shoot with the Fuji XT2. This connected the camera with the Ronin RS2 and allows me to start and stop recording through the gimbal. Perfect fit

I have four of these VariZoom VZ-Rock's we use with our HD cameras on tripods. We mainly use it to start and stop recording on the cameras, as well as zooming in and out while filming. They last forever unless you drop one, which is what happened to us. I do not shoot a camera on a tripod without one. You need a camera with a Lanc connection.

Have used many recording devices over the years, from Nagra recorders back in the day to the latest digital units. By far, for the money and performance, the Zoom H2N is the best item available. When used in conjunction with a DSLR shooting video, and routing the signal out to the camera's CF and SD cards for syncing and safety, I simply start the recording process on the Zoom (one button) and let her rip (after all, it will record 48kHz/24-bit for half a day on one 16GB card). Then, even though I stop and start my video recording as I look for new shots or angles, I never have to worry about missing the audio. If I don't have video to go with the sound, I simply shoot some b-roll and cut it in. Far better to have b-roll video with the full soundtrack than a-roll video and sound that came in ten seconds after the most poignant thing of the day was said and the camera was not rolling. I love this little guy, and for the price, can expend one on every major assignment and not worry about anything but the wave files on the SD card. Of course, if it survives to record another day, all the better.

With my camera mounted at the end of my Sunfish boom/lower spar, I can’t reach it once I’m on the water. I used to just start recording when I launched, but the battery wouldn’t last for all the races of the day. Enter the remote. Now I start and stop at just the right times, and I have great video of my races.

I love my Ronin S. I use it all the time. Unfortunately, it does still not sync correctly with my Canon 5D Mark IV. When my camera is connected to the Ronin S, I can shoot for a couple minutes but then the camera stops working. I get an Error 70 message on my 5D Mark IV. So what that means is I cannot use the Ronin S (yet) to it's full potential; no start/stop recording and no pulling manual focus. When I disconnect the line between the camera and Ronin, everything works fine. Having to manually start/stop recording from the camera is a bugger knowing that the disabled record button is just sitting in the perfect location on the Ronin S. Ronin says they are working on a fix. Let's wait and see.

Does it have a button to take picture/start recording close to the grip?

I prefer this doorbell over the RING I had previously. Internal micro SD for recording, is a great feature. Cloud service (monthly fee) not necessary. Lorex security cameras are high end so expected a quality video doorbell as well. Happy with purchase.

Coming from the competition (rhymes with Ding), this doorbell is amazing. 24/7 recording, great app UI, google home telling me who's at the door; all awesome.
