This is one of the most widely used shock mounts by professional sound mixers in the film and video industry. Its light weight makes it a favorite for boom operators. The flexibility of the mount gives it superior isolation from handling noise. It is ideal for light weight microphones with a foam windscreen, A K6/ME66 will work fine although at 12.5 it is probably the longest usable mic. The rubber rings are very durable when used properly. Professional users double-twist them before inserting the microphone. Without that double-twist it is a bit loosey goosey. It is not suitable for a long shotgun (there is a large model for that) or use with a heavy outdoor windscreen. In that case a stiffer mount (with less noise isolation) is necessary. 5 |
