I use an SR18 as the basis for my drum kit when I record. As most folks know, it is capable of being a really great program-the-drums-in-advance drummer, but I've found that when I record, I work better in real time. What I mean is that I *could* create drum patterns and write them into the SR18 memory, using them as building blocks to create an internal song that would record and play back with computer-accurate perfection for live performances, but for recording, it doesn't feel as dynamic as simply playing the pads as I'm recording. As with most human beings, I don't do a perfect job, and those imperfections add a subtlety to the song that keeps it interesting. The SR18 -- along with separate tracks for the bass/snare, ride cymbal, crash cymbal, toms, and high hat -- lets me do that perfectly. At mixdown, I can adjust each component in the kit to complement the other sounds in the mix, and arrive at a magnificently realistic drum part. Love this thing! 5 |

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow. I used this microphone for song and sound recording as samples, but I'm so impressed! Crystal clear sound. So useful and so easy to use. Connects easily, easy use and functionality. Can just take it with me and connect to laptop. I know it's for mostly gaming and podcasting. but it's so good for some sound recording, try it people! Wonderful! 5 |

Great mic, easy to set up and minutes later be recording a song, or teaching an online class. Thanks B&H for quick shipping. 5 |

I am a Bass Player. I like to hook up my bass to my computer for recording or practicing. The audio out of my Apple iMac always had problems handling the low frequencies of a bass guitar through headphones. Through the analog headphone port of my iMac, I would always have distortion, compression and muddy low frequency response. The AudioEngine D1 DAC solved the problem. At first, I would stream audio back through the USB port. Then, I bought myself an optical cable that has a 3.5mm mini-toslink one end and a full size toslink on the other. I hooked up the mini-toslink end to the headphone out of my iMac which is designed to support both 3.5mm analog audio or 3.5mm optical audio. Then, I played an HD version of Creams's N.S.U. song at 24-bit 192KHz resolution. Suddenly, I heard magical things I had never heard before. I can actually hear very clearly how the recording engineer mixed the song. For example, for that particular song, Eric Clapton's voice is slightly panned right in the stereo image while Jack Bruce's voice is panned slightly left. The bass is panned pretty hard on the right side. The guitar is panned on the left side and the drum is right down the middle. Really Cool! Also, there is some spatial dimension to the recording. You hear the room. Highly recommended. 5 |

This is a great little machine I use to record with in my home studio. The A and B patterns are helpful from switching from verse to chorus. Programing takes some effort for the perfection of a song, otherwise the presets sound great. Two variations of drum fills are good and the drum tones sound great, especially once you learn how to tweak them a little bit. The touch sensitive pads are excellent for building up to that climax in a song. Don't forget to order a set of foot pedals, you will need them. I would suggest this machine to anyone who needs a low cost, great sounding, easy to use drum machine. 5 |
