Dvr 4980 8 Channel Digital Video Recorder

For years I was using $3k digital recorder to transfer video from my DVR to my computer for editing & posting to social media. The Elgato device gets the job done at a fraction of the cost.

I use this with a Tascam DP008 8 channel digital recorder. The phone output on that unit is weak, so I use this and its great. It solves all monitoring and mixing problems created by a weak phone-jack signal. Its great.

I love this thing! I needed to step up from a single-channel digital recorder but I don't need (and can't afford) a big deck. This is a great combination of compact size, enough features for a small shoot and affordability.

I'm using this recorder as part of a single-shooter video rig shooting gymnastics events for a YouTube channel called Grips. Chalk. Flip. This recorder works well with my setup, which includes a Nikon Z6 connected via HDMI to a BlackMagic Video Assist 12g shooting in 10-bit N-Log in ProRes HQ. I'm using 5-6 of the inputs on the Zoom, feeding the mix to the Z6 via one stereo channel and a free run clock timecode from the Zoom F6 to the other stereo channel. Both audio channels are then fed to the BMVA via HDMI. Feeding through the camera rather than direct to the BMVA helps with the HDMI latency from the Z6 by keeping the audio and video in sync. I sync my dailies using Tentacle Sync Studio, which is quick and exports easily into Final Cut Pro X. The 32-bit float is great, too, because in this setup, I can't pay much attention to the audio levels apart from what I hear in the mix, so I don't have to worry about clipping as I can fix it later.

The case is being used for my SONY.. digital HD video camera recorder. It is big so that it will fix and room for digital camera, the ligths, etc... So far (4-5) producer, would like to have one now.

The battery is for my son's digital video recorder. It was used extensively for only about 10 days and worked very well, no complains. What will happen later we don't know but hope for best.

I tried a different brand first that was 1//2 the price but it didnt work for my system. The other brand caused a breakup of connection(handshake) everytime I switched the channel from the DirectTV DVR, forcing me to turn off the DVR and TV to re-establish connection. This KanexPro splitter is now working fine...watching two TVs displaying the same channel from the DirectTV DVR.

Attached this to a Channel Master DVR+ where it records, playsback programming and stores other data. Not noticing the lag and playback buffering from previous drive. Easy to install, literally plug and play.

First, 60W will probably meet your needs in a small video studio. I only use 2-8% of the output. Secondly, a standard modifier platform (Bowens' S mount), has saved me a great deal of time. The lower cost silent heads would only accept barndoors, gaffing tape and aluminum foil. Far Far easier to repurpose old modifiers or purchase new. Previously, I would have to retape the foil at inopportune times. SILENCE is critical for me. Recording a cast once correctly is worth all the post processing in the world. Nothing beats SILENCE.

I use it to split audio from my mixer onto a digital recorder and a headset too!
