Elac Computer Speakers

I spent a lot of time reading reviews for bookshelf speakers for my OnkyoTX-NR676 Stereo w/Pro-ject Debut Carbon Turntable, Kenwood CD changer and Pioneer Tape Deck (which is in my small office 14'x11') , and in contention in my under $250 price range were not only these ELAC Debut 2.0 speakers, but also Klipsch R-41M and Pioneer SP-BS22-LR. So far(3 weeks), these ELAC speakers came out of the box working/sounding really well at both low and high volumes, and I am glad I picked them. mvm 13.May.2020

I replaced my active monitors with the ELAC speakers and a Yamaha integrated amplifier. Since the ELAC has coaxial arrangement of tweeter + midrange, I felt it would work fine for near field listening. I'm very happy with the result. With nothing playing, the combination of amp with passive speakers has no background hiss. My old monitors had audible hiss and non-defeatable auto-shutoff unless the playback was kept sufficiently loud. I'm using an RME ADI-2 DAC feeding the Yamaha amp. I chose ELAC's Satin White with Oak Sides to escape the all-black look of my old monitors.

I had a pair of fairly large 3-way speakers which were quite old (1978). I had to replace the 10 woofers in them, and suspected that I had changed the balance of sound. I finally replaced them entirely with the Elac Debug 2.0 and I honestly think they sound better.  THe three ways were not ported and only went down to 35Hz, the much smaller ELACs just about meet that.  I played some orchestral music that I am familiar with and to my surprise I could hear details in the music, the sound of individual instruments, that I had not noticed before. Maybe I was just focused more on listening, but I doubt it; I think these Elac Debug 2.0 speakers deserve their great reviews. They sound wonderful, especially considering how much smaller they are thats amazing. And B&H had them on deep sale when they didnt have any in stock; I ordered them at that time. The sale made it unquestionably worth the risk of replacing my speakers with smaller speakers - turned out to be better than I had any right to expect.

I replaced two, 15 year old SpeakerCraft in ceiling speakers with the ELAC's. I was looking for more sound depth and clarity in a new set of speakers. These are primarily used for background music while entertaining and listening to music when cooking. The ELAC's delivered everything I was expecting and more. The certainly fill the room and provide more definition on the high and low end. The magnetic grill covers are a bonus and sit nice and flush in the ceiling.
