Esata Usb Flash Drive

I use this adapter to go from my USB 3 port to my ESATA external drive for backups. I purchased because my new laptop does not have an ESATA port, as did my prior laptop. I have not used often but it works just fine when connected to the USB 3 port. I would buy again.

Not much to say other than, "It works." The rotating cover that slides down with a 3.5" drive on the dock tends to buzz as the drive vibrates in use. A dab of silicone on the edge of that cover took care of that. eSATA performance was as expected. USB 3.1 seems like overkill on a device like this since it exceeds the drive speed anyway, so provided that didn't increase the price... :) The transfers over USB are fast. If the computer and the receiving/sending drive(s) can match, then this dock will give you max speed possible with the drives in question. It just works: tested with Macbook, Windows and Linux using USB 3.1, USB 3.0, and eSATA. I received this product in exchange for an unbiased review.

OWC / Other World Computing Mercury Elite Pro Dual 6TB 2-Bay USB 3.1 Gen 1 RAID Array (2 x 3TB) Purchased this to use on my Windows 10 computer at home.  Works like a charm.  Using it in RAID 0 mode for video editing.  Spins up very quickly.  Very quiet too, not hearing any high-pitched noise from the fan that some people are reporting.  Using the eSATA connection via a SATA-eSATA bracket which allows me to connect directly to the motherboards SATA port.  Read/write speeds are very good, much better than USB 3. Only complaint I have, which others have as well, is that the lights are WAY too bright.  I plan on opening the case up and taping some ND gel to the inside in front of the lights to darken them a bit. Highly recommend this external drive enclosure for those looking for more drive space with quick read/write speeds.

We are using a flash drive to store and playback videos on a portable projector. I tried with a USB 3.0 Flash Drive, thinking the newer version was better. But the projector had a different idea. I learned from the professionals at B+H that this unit requires an older USB 2.0 Flash Drive. I never would have thought of that but sure enough, when I used this Verbatim 64G Ergo USB 2.0, the projector recognized the videos and played them flawlessly.

I bought this Flash Drive as a traveling backup for my photos. Typically, I take between 100Gb and 200Gb of photos on a trip so this gives me plenty of space. The small size is ideal as is the light weight. I connected it to my MacbookPro USB-C using a Uni 4 port USB-A to USB-C hub with no problems.I ran a quick test when I received the drive and it took 2 minutes to transfer just over 15Gb (212 files) from my MacbookPro to the drive. So it's pretty fast. It took just two days to get here (Arizona) from B&H and was cheaper than buying from Amazon. So I'm a happy camper.
