I am currently using this for gigabit Ethernet. The cable works well, though the connector release is a bit on the stiff side. Note: 1Gb Ethernet doesn’t need Cat6a cables (Cat6 is perfectly appropriate; Cat5e is adequate but marginal), I just got Cat6a for future-proofing. 5 |

I have put five of these drives in a Synology NAS, connected via the 100 mb ethernet connector. They work just fine, no issues. and overall performance is very good. As a side note, I added an iSCSI (software ) connection that is close to SANS external storage speeds, and the performance was better, using FCPX for editing 8 to 12 minute educational videos. 5 |
