Ethernet X520 Server Adapters

I had the NAS server for about a month. Out of the box it comes configured RAID 5. It boots up fast and the setup through mycloud.com is very fast and easy. The first thing it did was to updated the firmware. I had it up and running in a matter of minutes. A RAID 5 configuration gave me about 17.9TB of empty storage capacity. I connect to the server using 1Gb Ethernet switch and compatible cables. The writing and reading is about 10% faster than what I get from my fusion 7200RPM hard drive. I get on average 110MB/s speeds in both directions. Obviously, I'm limited by the Ethernet connection. So far I'm streaming just music from it. I have a Sonos system which was able to connect very quickly and reliably. I have not tried streaming movies, PLEX, etc. The server comes with several apps installed or available. I'm using Dropbox app to mirror the content and I'm struggling with Amazon S3 app. The issues are not related to PR4100, more related to Amazon services. After some help from the WD tech support, whom by the way responded within 24h with a lot of information, I was able to get the S3 going but Amazon has all kind of issues. The NAS comes with apps to host or develop your own website. I haven't tried it yet but it's very interesting. Very easy to create user accounts. The cherry on the cake is the cloud/remote access. You can access any file from a remote computer or mobile phone. On the phone you can play music or view pictures. Works very well and super fast. I'm very impressed by this feature. I was on a trip outside US and needed a Word file from the server, i downloaded it in a jiffy, edited and uploaded it back to the server without any hiccups. Of course, out of the box the cloud service is not enabled so you have to create accounts and enable the service. The server software is simple, and rather easy to use. I would give it a 9 out of 10. So far I went through 2 power failures. It recovered quickly and without issues,

I'm using the case to carry a small desktop server CPU and ethernet switch and all the associated cables. The pluck and pick foam made it incredibly easy to fit all the pieces snuggly and safely. And it's small enough to fit under a seat on an airplane as a carry-on.

Unlike some other USB to Ethernet adapters, this one indicated GB speeds and actually delivered them. Easy setup and to use.

Totally reliable so far. Wish it did not cost so much more than all other USB-C to Ethernet adapters, but I bought three, so it's obviously worth it to me!

I just installed this product in my server cabinet and the rotating plugs are very convenient for big power adapters (e.g. modem, LAN switch). The cord is somewhat stiff, but it will work.

I purchased the two-pack Actiontec Bonded MoCA Network Adapters after reading about them online. They are extremely simple to install. All you do is connect one to your tv cable and plug in you ethernet source and you're ready to go. You must have at least two adapters to complete the network. I installed the second one in our living room. This time I just connected the tv cable to the adapter and it was the ethernet source for my streaming devices. I was so satisfied with these adapters, I purchased the wi-fi extender with which I am equally pleased. I've gotten over 100 Mps with this wi-fi extender - unbelievable!! If you need a hard wire ethernet in your house, this is the simplest way to get one - using your existing cable tv lines. I decided to cut the cord on cable tv because my bill went up nearly $20 per month with no change in service. With this device, I am able to run OTA TV and streaming devices over my home tv cables and it's like magic. I definitely recommend this produce to anyone interested in a MoCA network.

This is by far the best non-Ethernet home networking solution on the market delivering near 1G Ethernet speeds. There were some teething issues for me that I had to resolve, but since then my three adapters have been rock solid. So much so I just bought 2 more. A few tech notes from the issues I had to resolve. High frequency bandwidth is everything for these adapters. Make sure you have RG6 wires, this should not be an issue if using cable wiring preinstalled in the last 30-40 years or more recently by the cable company. In my case the in wall wiring was OK with RG6 cable. However a previous owner had used cheap R59 jumpers (with cheap twist on terminations) between a rat's nest of cheap Radio Shack splitters that couldn't pass more than 1 GHz. I bought a higher quality 6-way splitter rated up to 2 GHz. I also found that having a filter designed to contain the MOCA signals within the house was an absolute necessity. This filter is installed at the input to the splitter for me. I think the filter either addressed a high frequency impedance issue or controlled signal reflections that were causing issues. As an aside to anyone who cares, these adapters do pass VLANs and probably any other Ethernet L2 items like jumbo frames and the like. I believe all MOCA adapters do is to encapsulate Ethernet frames and seamlessly pass it over the MOCA network.

You can buy less expensive ethernet adapters for your Mevo, but I'm glad I got this one. I wasn't sure if I could run power as well as connect to ethernet to stream church services. This works great.

This is the way to go if you want to expand the bandwidth of your home network without running ethernet cable, and IMO is far superior to powerline adapters. They are truly plug and play, and require no setup at all once correctly connected to your router. My home was built with coax running to each room. I bought the 2 pack of these adapters to get more bandwidth for media streaming to my TV, and I am getting close to the advertised gigabit speeds. Just make sure you also buy a MOCA POE filter or else your data will travel out of your house into the cable network ... they are cheap so buy one and save yourself the headache. Also, these are not compatible with satellite TV .. only cable.

Works flawlessly without any drop unlike Powerline Ethernet adapters. Just make sure to create a network using the adapters in 2-Pack first before adding(pairing) any other individual single pack MOCA adapters.
