Evolutionary Percussive Instrument Corrections

I am updating this review, having read reviews from others. This lens does have very noticeable pincushion distortion at mid and long focal lengths. However, this is instantly and fully corrected in Lightroom 5 by scrolling (in Develop mode) to Lens Corrections and clicking on Enable Profile Corrections. Impressive that immediately with December 15, 2013 release of this new lens, Lr5 recognized it and had software for corrections. That's why Lr has this feature. So BEWARE and use your SOFTWARE.Electronic corrections have provided lens designers more freedom with zoom lenses.Zoom lenses are prone to distortion. New wonder compact zoom lens designs are meant to be used with electronic corrections. This lens has internal zooming to keep length and balance point close to camera (important on the slim Nex, and internal zooming should keep dust from getting pumped into lens). Those who shoot jpg get in-camera corrections. We who shoot RAW must apply corrections in our computers. Results are excellent. The beauty of this lens is it's slick function in the field. Remember the Hubble telescope? Shortly after placement in orbit, crippling distortion from faulty assembly was apparent. Electronic corrections even solved that. There is nothing wrong with using electronic corrections. Everything we do in Lr or similar programs is electronic correction.

I use this mic to record acoustic guitar because of the way it picks up percussive elements of picking. So its uses go beyond just miking drums.

I have carried this light daily in many environments for almost a decade. The light began to fail to light and required some percussive maintenance on occasion to correct the issue. I reported the issue and was sent a replacement.

Mirrorless is like electric cars, it's taking over where you want it or not. It's an evolutionary change but worth it, with a higher usable ISO, silent shooting in live view (only noise is the mirror clack when you turn it off/on) and 4K video output. Pictures are great and it overall is faster than my 750's. I haven't had it long enough to see how the shutter holds up--the previous failure point of the 750. I use the older D series lenses as they're built like tanks and lately have gotten very cheap. Sadly at the rate things are going this may be the last prosumer DSLR that Nikon will make, and it's made so little impression a lot of photographers don't even know it exists.

As much as I would love to imagine the perfect, lightweight, ubiquitous VR headset we are in the middle of an evolutionary progression and the Quest Pro feels like one step closer to where we all want to get to.

One of the few cards out there that actually provides an evolutionary boost over its previous generation. The 4070 offers 3080 level performance or better, with more VRAM and lower power, at a lower price. Many still consider this card expensive, but consider that newly released lower end cards are intentionally hamstrung and provide almost ZERO uplift compared to their previous generation. At least NVIDIA didn't screw this one up, even if it is a bit overpriced by 2019 standards (almost EVERYTHING is more expensive these days!).

As an evolutionary step in one of Nikon's most popular pro lenses, they've pulled out all the stops with this one. AF is blazing fast and unflinchingly accurate. VRII seems to do what it claims, though I have not yet tested it to see if up to four stops really proves out. Above all else, though, the image quality is simply outstanding. I've shot tripod-sharp images handheld at 1/10, ISO 200, at f/2.8 through a D700. What more can I say?

Having one of these significantly improved my workflow, color corrections is so much easier.
