Exfat Safe Switch Emulator

I reformatted it for ExFat so I could use it on both my PC and MAC. It works great

First thing I did was reformat the HD to exFAT for use on my PC. Working great so far!

If you format on a PC and plan to use it to record an iphone please format in the exFAT format otherwise it won't be recognized.

I had to fiddle with it a little to get it formatted for the Mac, it came formatted in exFAT, I think it's more efficient in APFS. Fast, small and reliable so far.

These drives work beautifully! They arrived formatted exfat so I could start loading my huge video files immediately on both Macs and PCs. Bought 4 so far. Would by again! Thanks B & H!

I bought this drive to replace a rugged La Cie whose ports were going bad. It doesn't have the rubber protection of the La Cie, but it's so small, you can easily slip it into your pocket and protect it like that. It comes with ExFat formatting , which although compatible with Monterey OS, is NOT compatible with Time Machine. So step one: reformat to APFS. Then it works great and can be backed up to Time Machine along with my other drives. If for some reason you decide to keep the ExFat formatting, be aware that it is a data hog, causing your files to take up 1.5 to 2 times more space than APFS requires.

NOTE TO PC USERS: You might need to format the drive as EXFAT instead of NTFS to copy from the iPad to the drive. I'm surprised at how small this drive is. It's smaller than my card reader. When used with USB C connection (PC), it is crazy fast at moving files. It connected to my iPad Pro flawlessly and plays HD from the drive with no lag. It looks like it was designed to match iMacs and other apple devices (looks great). I'm a PC myself. This drive does not work with my iPhone 11Pro max. I believe it only works with tablets and PC/Macs.

I use this HDD as a way to back up my wedding footage and I never have any issues with it! I have it reformatted to exFAT to use on my MacBook and it works great. The hard drive is quite slow compared to modern SSDs, but that's to be expected so I can't fault it. This is a great option for additional storage especially when it's on sale!

It comes NTFS formatted but can be easily formatted to exFAT to be used by both Mac and Windows. Its pure plug and play. Works like a snap. There are some WD utilities provided but may not be useful for all folks.

I had a questionable experience w WD in the past- but this is a really good price and I need to eventually use it as a server. I formatted it exfat on my pc and it seems to work with all computers, new and old...mac OSX Lion and Catalina as well as Windows 10 so I am pleased. Hope it lasts.
