I purchased this 3TB USB hard drive to backup my new MAC. The drive arrived in 2 days with free shipping. The drive was packed well and was in great condition. The drive is formatted for Mac and worked as soon as it was plugged in. The readme file on the drive explains other details and tips. I used the Mac app Time Machine to backup the Hard drive. No problems whatsoever. I like WD hard drives because they are very reliable and work properly right out of the box for both IOS and Windows. 5 |

Ok... so had this free standing hard drive that would not show up on my mac anymore... removed the hard drive itself from the case... installed into the StarTech Adapter in about 90 seconds... plugged into my SATA doc... and BOOM... my info was back! Not more trying to replace an external power supply or other drive resurrection voodoo ... 5 |

Not everything can be in the cloud. Thumb drives are hard to use with a Mac because if the Mac i/o. This drive allows you to work with USB and USB-C ports. 5 |

We have an iMac with a 3TB drive that filled up. We purchased it from the local store, Mac HQ. When I asked for a recommendation on how to address the loss of drive space they recommended 1 Glyph to be an extension of the iMacs hard drive, and another for dedicated backups. This works well... things like iTunes and Movies and barely-used documents stay on the extension Glyph, freeing the iMacs hard drive. Mac HQ recommended setting up Carbon Copy Cloner for the backups and they work nicely with these drives. The 7,200 rpm makes for fast data transfers to and from these Glyph drives. The drives are solid all around... design, feel, actual performance. Thank you, Glyph! MacHQ recommended purchasing from B&H and Im glad they did... the order shipped and arrived quickly. I am a Mac user and all I wanted was a storage device, not a backup device. I just wanted to be able to drag and drop pictures onto a small hard drive that would fit into my safe deposit box. I've tried other external hard drives to do this job but could not figure out how to set them up for just storage, not back up. All I did was plug it into my Mac via the USB and I was able to drag-and-drop instantly. The WD drive fits comfortably in one hand and appears to be well built.
