External Backup Hard Drive For Mac

Large, fast and reliable. Using as an external hard drive for backup storage with a Mac Pro. I shoot and edit a lot of 4K video and need tons of storage. This drive is versatile, affordable and does the job.

I purchased this 3TB USB hard drive to backup my new MAC. The drive arrived in 2 days with free shipping. The drive was packed well and was in great condition. The drive is formatted for Mac and worked as soon as it was plugged in. The readme file on the drive explains other details and tips. I used the Mac app Time Machine to backup the Hard drive. No problems whatsoever. I like WD hard drives because they are very reliable and work properly right out of the box for both IOS and Windows.

I have used a LaCie Rugged USB External Hard Drive as a backup device for over 10 years. This is a very reliable product. When I purchased a new computer with a Type C drive I did not hesitate to upgrade to a LaCie Type C drive knowing it would be just as reliable.

Purchased this to transfer photos from another WD 4TB external hard drive as a backup.

Had a problem with a OWC cable I bought a long time ago. Running a Time Machine full backup from a 2013 Mac Pro to an external OWC drive took over night. After erasing the external drive the Apple cable took 1/2 hour for the full backup. There is mention on the internet about fussy thunderbolt connections on the 2013 Mac Pro.

I use the drive for video production and another one for backup on my mac pro. I edit on the one that is in one of the bays inside the computer. I back up to the one on my external esata drive. I haven't encountered any problems with them yet. They're fast enough for music and video production ( 7200 rpm) and have enough space do substantial work.

This 2TB P3 NVME drive is great. It's being used in a Sabrent NVME enclosure as an external backup drive for a Mac M2. I have five other P4 NVMEs (four are Crucial brand) but I went with their slower P3 for use as simply a backup drive. I'm very pleased and the price certainly hits my sweet spot. There are more in my future...

I bought this hard drive to use with Time Machine on my Mac. I literally just plugged it in, then the computer asked me if I wanted to use it as my Time Machine backup and I clicked yes. Presto. Done. Didn't install any software, it's just plug and play. (I had to buy a new external drive because I got a new computer and the old backup drive would be completely overwritten if I used it for Time Machine. This one is about 1/20 the size of the old. Since I work upstairs in my bedroom at night sometimes, it's nice to have an external drive that is completely portable. This way I tend to plug it in for a backup more often instead of waiting until I am downstairs again.) I actually bought an extra one for a different computer.
