External Hard Disk Hdd Or Ssd

When my mechanical HDD hard disk with the data partitions notified me that it was in trouble, I turned to B&H for a reasonably priced 2T SSD replacement by Crucial, the Micron people. I was able to install the new SSD, partition it and back up everything to it, and by now enjoy the quiet assurance that everything is back to normal, but better, smoother and quicker than ever before.

Does exactly what it's supposed to. I use it to connect an external SSD for use as a scratch disk.

I replaced an OEM HDD on a Windows 8 HP G7-2246nr laptop with this SSD using Macronium Reflect Free. Noticed improved speed right away. Old HDD was hot to touch when removed. Glad it's gone. Here is what I did. 1) Created system image of entire old HDD to additional external USB HDD using Windows 8 File Recovery tool just in case. 2) Purchased USB 3 to SATA cable. 3) Installed Reflect and viewed support page that explains how to use Reflect. IMPORTANT 4) Cloned all partitions of old HDD in the same order that they are listed under source disk (0) in Reflect. Since is was downsizing from 512 GB old HDD to 240 GB SDD, I paused after dragging C: into destination disk to resize it down to 197 GB and set the drive letter from Auto to C. 5) Added all subsequent partitions including D for recovery (25 GB). Finished Clone keeping all partitions at original size except for C drive. 5) Shut down laptop and swapped out the hard drives and rebooted. Windows 8 recognized the SSD and there was no need to go into EUFI.

I just added the WD 4TB Elements External Desktop Hard Disk Drive to my� back up solution (6 hard drives) and Windows 10.� I disconnected the power and USB cable from a full WD hard drive and replaced it with this new drive and fired it up. It works great, just like I would expect from Western Digital.

This is my backup drive and works smoothly even if used together with an external ssd/hdd sata enclosure.

I like WD products. I use many of their internal and external HDD/SSD drives. Excellent quality and price.

This is my 2nd external storage unit, but my 1st SSD. My first unit, from a widely recognized manuf'd, was a HDD (hard disk drive) that began to give me trouble. I switched to a SSD (solid state drive), which is supposed to be faster and more reliable than HDD. This Sandisk was easy to set-up and format and has been operating flawlessly. I notice the unit is 'warm' to the touch, unlike my first HDD which was stone cold, but other than that seems to be working perfectly, and I really like the password security feature, too.

2T WD Black internal hdd works great. Use it in my external hard drive shell with a esata connection to my D*** Set top Box for much more space for DVR recordings than D***** provides.

Coming from using external hard drives such as G drives, I must say that this Internal NAS HDD is blazing fast and easy to use....
