External Hard Drive For Macbook Pro 2012

I purchased this external hard drive so i could back up my 2012 MacBook Pro with time machine. I was able to format the drive for the time machine and had absolutely no issues doing it. I was also able to partition it so it can also be used as a regular drive so i can store photos and videos. Out of the box, the device was flawless and powered up immediately when i plugged it in with USB. No power adapter necessary. When it's running when its recording or reading, its silent and there are no vibrations or rattling noises. Considering the 4TB storage capacity and the fact it's not SSD, this is quite a small device. I've been using Western Digital for over a decade and have never had any issues. In my opinion, they are the best devices and i would recommend them to anyone. They are the best bang for the buck!

This cable is used with the external hard drive that backs up my MacBook Pro.

Upgraded from a 2012 MacBook Pro with a dual core processor to the 2020 MacBook Air with a quad core. That plus having a SSD hard drive instead of a traditional hard drive has made using a Mac fun again. Ordering was easy and computer arrived via FedEx in 2 days.

This external hard drive works great on my MacBook Pro. It is very small and easy to transport. I don't have anything bad to say about this product. It does everything I need it for and it's well worth the price.

Purchased as a Time Machine external hard drive for my MacBook Pro. Works very well - plenty fast for backup tasks. Very quiet operation compared to the Western Digital drives I tried out. Great for long term storage of data as SSD drives are prone to data loss over time if not powered on regularly. Learned this the hard way :-/

I jut got this affordable but amazing external hard drive, paired it with my MacBook Pro (2017), and it's really fast as they advertise it. Just did Blackmagic speed test and its 210/220 mbp/s. Before this one, I got Glyph 5tb Blackbox Pro (6months ago), which served me very well for one project, very stable, but with the speed of 180 mbp/s. So my opinion is, that if you want the fastest external hard drive in this price range, for your MacBook Pro (or any usb-c device), with super fancy and minimal black design, this is definitely an external hard drive to buy. Btw its looks amazing, and I don't work for Lacie, I am a video editor :).

Used external USB case to mirror internal hard drive of Macbook Pro. Then simply replaced the internal drive with SanDisk SSD. Significant speed increase and virtually silent. Great driver for the price. Highly recommend it!

I was happy to find this connector that works great with my Macbook Pro and external hard drive.

I used this with my Promise external hard drive into my brand new Kaby Lake Macbook Pro and it seems that the speed is still there. As of now I'm quite satisfieed.
