Have this unit hooked up to a Ma ini, 2.5 external raid 1 setup, and Netgear router as a personal cloud server. The unit gives my Ma ini and external drive enough time to automatically shutdown, using the included USB cable & power management in Mavericks. I have also noticed this battery pack acts as a great voltage filter/buffer. My commercial complex seems to knock drives offline from voltage spikes and with this new battery pack I have yet to have my external drive pop offline. Biggest con is the unit right out of the box smells pretty nasty like an electrical melted wire smell. The day I opened the box is smelled really bad, this is with the unit off and in the BH box. Plugged it in and the smell dissipated but I'm guessing the smell must be some of the chemicals from the battery and/or plastic(s) of the product. My wife thought something was burning when I opened the box. 5 |
