if you want to copy your data from laptop to new internal HDD/SSD this is a good one.

This is my backup drive and works smoothly even if used together with an external ssd/hdd sata enclosure.

I like WD products. I use many of their internal and external HDD/SSD drives. Excellent quality and price.

This is my 2nd external storage unit, but my 1st SSD. My first unit, from a widely recognized manuf'd, was a HDD (hard disk drive) that began to give me trouble. I switched to a SSD (solid state drive), which is supposed to be faster and more reliable than HDD. This Sandisk was easy to set-up and format and has been operating flawlessly. I notice the unit is 'warm' to the touch, unlike my first HDD which was stone cold, but other than that seems to be working perfectly, and I really like the password security feature, too.

Makes using small-size external SSd convenient to use with a laptop. External drive no longer has to dangle off the USB connecting port, it helps keep the connection more secure.

I have thoroughly tested this external HDD (with WD's software), reformatted it for larger sectors, and bought a high-impact case for it. It will hold all of my photos from Lightroom so that I can easily work on everything using my desktop while at home and on the road with a laptop. I will soon set it up with Bit Locker and find the cheapest way to back it up on the cloud. I wish it had a faster interface, but USB 3.0 will suffice. Please note that I use a separate and smaller 2Tb WD My Passport to back up the laptop and a far larger 5Tb external HD to backup the desktop. Some do not like the appearance of this product. I like its high-tech look. I picked red to remind me of my darkroom days.

I had to upgrade my laptop from HDD to SSD, and that left me with a huge storage problem. I bought two of these and maxed them out with 300 Steam games, and so far, all of them have worked fine! If you're in need of some extra space, this is a good buy. One thing to note: Windows automatically hibernates thumb drives by default, but it's easy to fix with a web search.

This thing is great if you wish to upgrade a laptop or desktop that currently is using an HDD. This ssd will make boot times great and just overall system use feel more responsive. The only downside I have is it isn't the greatest ssd for pure speed but, for the price you are paying it is well worth it.

If you haven't done so yet and you have a standard HDD in your laptop, please please upgrade to a SSD. The difference in performance is nothing short of extraordinary. Crucial makes a great drive at a reasonable price. Please get one if you haven't all ready. You will be amazed.

Cloned a slow laptop hdd to a new ssd drive via usb port with mini tool partition wizard. It took so little time. I left it alone for 40 min and it was done when I got back. Perfect tool for this job!
