External Video Camera For Home

I'm backing up my PC external HD with this portable HD. I purchased it to also show my home video and pictures on my smart TV. Great unit!

This is a great camera for a small, independent low budget independent filmmaker such as me.  This is a great camera to learn how to shoot a cinema camera. The people coming from a video camera background may not like it as it lacks all the consumer creature comforts. But cinema cameras dont have such features. Expect large files, to shoot manual exposure, focus, no image stabilization, and post production color grading is needed .. then you will get amazing looking images. The new BRaw codec is great. I will still stick to my video camera for the family events, and will use this for the higher quality gigs where I want to finess every element of the shot. You will need to invest in an external power system, external SSD or expensive Cfast cards, and a cage and a few pieces of hardware to make this a useable unit. But such is the nature of cinema cameras. The build is decent. The buttons feel could be a little bit more robust.. but they work. I am actually pleased that the body is very light weight, because adding a cage and hardware to it then gives the whole kit just the right mass and stability.

I was looking for a solution for keeping cables neatly confined when connecting a professional video camera to an external monitor. HDMI cables are generally very inflexible, so the advent of a rotatable plug solved the issue.

I'm using this arm for an external monitor for a video camera. Was not disappointed from the second I opened it. It provides strong support for any position it is locked. So no matter where the camera is set-up, there is a position that can be locked for proper viewing of the external monitor. I highly recommend this friction arm.

I just love it. I am a musician and I got this camera to film my performances. (video = 10, Audio = 10 ) What I liked the most is that you are able to use an external mic and to set your own input level. I was about to get the Sony HDR XR150, but I found this camera much better, by far: is it better build, more features. The only cons is going to be the low light filming, but I do not use it so often. I also got the 32gb SD card class 10. With that I record on SP (standard play which is still amaizing quality) about 9 hours of video. I love it.

My first 360 camera. I purchased it based on a lot of research.  So far I am glad I got it.  The phone software is the main editing software as the desktop app has few features.  Most video can look good as long as you dont exceed the dynamic range of the camera.  A few tweaks to the video in post production usually can produce video that looks good on the TV.  There are many neat features and effects with this camera.  The external battery charger and extra batteries was one of the options that lead me to this camera.  My other choice for camera you could only charge the battery in the camera and it took 4+ hrs.  The 360 one X also can run off of an external power pack but the pack can show in videos if your not careful how you place it.  The still (photo) pictures seem much better quality than any other 360 camera and this was one of the features that also lead me to buy this camera.

So I purchased this camera with the intentions of shooting photography as well as doing video. I must say that I am blown away by what this camera is able to do. From my photography standpoint, the photos are super sharp, and with the ability to buy the adapter and stick with EF glass,the possibilities are endless. From a video perspective, the capabilities of shooting 4K,60 as well as 1080,120 I could be as creative as I want to be. I still haven't had the opportunity to test out the 6K as it is external so I have to buy the external monitor, however, from what I was able to do in low light, this camera is amazing. I would recommend to anyone.

I shoot video at events and concerts, recently mostly with photo-first cameras like a Sony A7 and A9, with an external monitor/recorder (Atomos Ninja V). The Sony FZ100 battery only lasts about 2.5 hours, much less if used to record internally. An external USB batter only provides about half the power needed by the Sony. The dummy batter adapter replaces the FZ100 in the camera. The camera displays a warning after a few minutes, which goes away once cancelled. I have found no excessive heating nor any other deleterious effects using this device. I use Vari-Zoom NP1 or Anton Bauer video batteries for power. Both have D-Tap ports. They give me the freedom to operate out of reach of line power - all day if necessary.

I needed a external video camera for my new RZR, and I started looking around at the choices. I was given the HERO 2 a few years ago and I never got into the camera. I decided to go with the SJ4000 after talking with a model airplane guy, would recommended the unit. I am very impressed with the unit. The SJ4000 is much cheaper and the layout for the video is much better then GO Pro. After setting up the HERO 2 and the SJ4000, I like the SJ more. Something about the HERO, and its operation just does agree with me. This camera is perfect as a low end camera, opposite my higher end panasonic cameras. I am going to order another camera soon and I am torn between the Sj5000 or the new CUBE.

Great camera for family video. Simple to use, good quality video, and the external mic input is a great plus! Note -- do not purchase the Edit 100 Camera Bag which is listed as a recommended accessory. This bag is too small!
