Fans Spinning But No Display

Lot's of space, very fast, fans and drives are quite for spinning drives... Setup is easy. It comes with trial software and then it asks you to purchase them for a large fee.

Got this for backups. But then the Samsung T7 I got was so slow I decided to use that for backups instead. This spinning disk drive is actually faster than the Samsung SSD! It's the most utterly stupid thing Samsung ever did with the T7. The T5 was a solid performer, the T7 a dud that can be lapped by a normal old hard drive! Anyway, this works exceptionally well for a bus powered spinning disk. I keep all my projects saved here when travelling, then I make copies to a disk array when back at home base. My only gripe is that I wish it was USB C.

Works very well even with older tripods you just need to add some double sided tape to keep them from spinning if you twist them. But they will not come off even if you don’t add the tape.

As other reviewers have noted, the drive is extremely quiet for a spinning hard drive. Of course, it's not silent like an SSD. But, a little ambient noise and the whirr of the drive completely disappears. It's also very fast, at least compared to the Seagate Expansion 5tb drive that I had been using before this one. I could transfer a ~150gb folder of photos with 40k items in about ten minutes. The blue light on the front of the drive isn't ideal, but it's bearable. Otherwise, the drive has an extremely sleek look that will complement a modern desk well.

I had to replace the front and rear fans with Corsair RGB fans to get a better color display and compatible hub controller and it really should have a USB C port in the front panel but overall the quality of the case is good and the components were easy to install.

This plate is well made and an absolutely perfect fit! No more spinning plates on the bottom of my equipment. This one stays snug and secure. I'm using this with a Really Right Stuff BH-40 and it works perfectly.

I have the plastic system as well and I can't tell you how much better this system is. I still use the plastic one as a secondary or backup. But I'd always rather use these. Note that these can't be used with the D1 series though because there are no fans for cooling.

For monitor fans, it's a great monitor; But I, who have an LG CX and now an LG C2, can never use a monitor. I feel like I'm going backwards in technology. Everything is better in an LG CX, C1 and C2. Thanks to B&H for their hassle-free refund, still my favorite tech store next to BestBuy.

No complaints, just a really good display in this price pont.
