Fast Shutter Digital Camera

For all of us who cannot spend the money on the Lecia, Pentax gives us a wonderful Monochrome digital camera. Based on the K3 chassis it is a Monochrome only Pentax K-3 Mark iii. It is an APS-C professional-level camera. With excellent ergonomics that Pentax is known for. Yes everyone is dashing off on mirrorless but the bright, eyeglass-friendly viewfinder is wonderful. With a nice catalog of lenses, this is a black-and-white camera that can be used in any situation. Finally black and white with excellent fine resolution, usable high ISO, and professional grade. The images have fine detail, highlights, and shadows. Easy-to-use menus and settings that address every situation you may encounter. For those who remember all those color filters for black and white are usable to manipulate the the images before tripping the shutter button. Two things to consider. LCD panel does not flip up or rotate. I use a Ref a right angle viewfinder by Pentax. It works well on all the 35mm Pentax cameras and some other brands. It rotates and has a 2x setting which is nice for macro. The other thing I have noticed is the very sensitive shutter button. It has a very sensitive and short motion to trip the shutter. I can highly recommend this camera to anyone who wants to do Monochrome. You will not be disappointed Monochrome is far from a niche place in photography. You see it in many venues. It is not limited now to the conversion of color digital or shooting film. We now have a well thought out Monochrome from Pentax at a more palatable price than Lecia.

This will charge my double A's fast and seperatley charge 2 camera batteries fast with a nice digital readout!

I jumped to the mirrorless realm from Nikon and I am glad I did. Amazing video camera Dual SD card slots allow for a more flexible and reliable means of storing imagery, and both card slots are compatible with UHS-II standards for fast transfer speeds. Front and rear command dials integrate a push function for easier use and settings selection and six different function buttons can be assigned to control a range of settings. Focus Lever provides faster, more intuitive control over selecting specific focus points while shooting. The top plate incorporates a series of locking dials and levers for fast, intuitive control over exposure settings, including a shutter speed dial that offers direct shutter speed adjustment. An ISO dial is also incorporated into the shutter speed dial, for confirming the sensitivity setting without having to turn the camera on and the exposure compensation dial. All of this and not only make me happy for this purchase the silver Fujifilm X-T3 .

I really wanted to cheap out and get the R8. However, I suspected there will be scenarios where I will need more out of my camera such a fast mechanical shutter, dual SD slots, IBIS, etc. The weight and size of this thing is incredible. This is easily one of best mid-grade mirrorless cameras out there for videos and stills.

Coming from a D800 and D500 it was a super fast learning curve.  Controls and menus are pretty much seamless from the d800 and D500.  Love the deeper grip over the D800.  I didnt realize how much I would be using the electronic shutter. The mechanical shutter is very loud due to more alloy construction inside. This level of resolution is even more unforgiving than I imagined. Shutter shake, and camera/subject movement is magnified more than I expected.  If you dont nail the focus, its much more apparent. The D850 is a huge waste of money if you dont have really really good glass to put on it. Although its somewhat subjective,  Im coming to the conclusion that this sensor out-resolves any glass I put on it.  Focus peaking is a welcome addition.  The file size will probably be the straw that breaks my computers back. This is a perfectionists camera and will challenge your skills.  But when everything comes together...WOW!

I've never been able to say that two years into using a camera. I love my 850's so much that they got another sibling in the studio. It focuses fast, the shutter fires fast for timing dance moves, and the resulting files and profiles are fabulous.

Great little camera. Very fast start up, auto focus and shutter release. Menus are a little complicated and some functions can be hard to get to quickly. I got it to take with me when I don't want to carry my DSLR and it's perfect for that. Quality of images seems to be very good although I haven't shot much at high ISO yet. Too many bells and whistles like a large assortment of effects/filters that I will never use. Blue indicator light is way too bright and is annoying when shooting in a dark room.
