Fidelity Recording Studio

My third pair for home studio. Durable, good value and acceptable fidelity for blogging, voice-overs, monitoring, recording, etc. Excellent choice for general purpose headphones for musicians in studio recording and field recording. Moderate sound isolation - not the best for noisy environments. Not wireless. Decent frequency response with minor coloration. There are better options for critical high-fidelity monitoring, but usually at a much higher price point. Popular for decades, with proven track record.

Clean sounding amp with excellent transient response and fidelity. I'm using it in my recording studio to run 4 - 12 3-way JBL studio monitors, and the sound is superb. The little automatic fan fires up occasionally when the temp rises, but the noise is minimal, and it only runs for a couple of minutes, then slows back down. Quality of build seems very good.

This is the mic of choice for many public radio reporters because of its durability and fidelity. I use it with a Marantz 661, and it's great for recording in the field or indoors in a makeshift studio. As I'm not reporting anymore, I use it mainly to record oral histories in my family. It's very durable fairly heavy, and the sound quality is great for voices. Because of the mic's cardioid pattern, it's not so great for recording specific, faraway sounds such as bird calls. I tried and didn't get anything worth keeping.

Great fidelity for the price point, and excellent for its designed purpose of recording for video conferencing and other streamed events which are highly compressed beyond the user's control. Still good for true recording circumstances beyond that, when compared to the ease of other USB microphones. Choose this model over the similar u29 as it has both Volume Control and Echo; echo is rather extreme, but adding a touch for conferencing helps round out the sound. The headphone monitor is useful, but more for recording than video conferencing setups.
