Film Camera For Backpacking
James | 2024-04-25 03:53:47 |
I bought this on a whim so could bring my Pentax K1000 film camera with me on a backpacking trip. I hated using the neck strap on long hikes. This clip caught my attention. It's not very wide, so I had to find the best spot to attach it to my 40L bag. With some squeezing, I got it affixed to my backpack. I hung my Pentax off the clip for 4 days and even transferred it to my daypack. It felt snug and secure. Not once did it feel like it would fall off. I'll have to buy another one so I can carry another camera on my trip. Solid product. 5 |

I bought this for a backpacking trip because my capture clip really drags on my shoulder over longer hikes. My camera was balanced and accessible from my chest strap (fits on the chest strap of a backpacking pack and the waist strap of a day pack). The carabiners are a little too small to get on/off the strap easily, but that may be intentional because if you absent-mindedly unclip your pack, the pod cannot pass over the plastic clip meaning your camera can't slide off onto the ground. It didn't get wet but I had it at camp for days with some desiccant packets inside and never had humidity issues. The large just fits my Nikon Z6 and 24-200mm lens *with* the lens hood on. I also had a hand strap attached which made the camera easy to grab and pull out of the bag. It's also great for when you need to put your camera into your pack - it's lightly padded and I'm hopeful the water resistance is legit because I've had hydration bladders leak on multiple occasions. It's well thought out and multifunctional, I'm pleased with it. 5 |

I've been using CC for a few years, and like it a lot for backpacking, hiking, rock climbing, and biking. I really like how it distributes the weight, and keeps the camera stable, but also safe during active movement. This new vest is more easily adjustable. It also uses a new hub, which is backwards computable with other CC holsters and such, however, the old hub does not work with this vest. I found that out when dashing out without changing my hub when I received the new vest :). I also use CC's adapter plate, so I can use the hub and tripod head at the same time. All in all, its a nice solution. If I'm just wandering around town, however, I tend not to dock my camera with a cc, and just use a standard strap over my neck/torso. The hub/plate does have a connection for a sling strap if that is your preference. 5 |

It's a great little tripod, that can actually hold a fair amount of weight, all things considered. I use it backpacking and hiking with my RB67, which is a beast of a camera, and it acquits itself very well. The way it can get low to the ground by positioning the center column at a right angle to the body and splaying the legs is a neat trick--though admittedly this is one time the heavy camera is too much for the poor thing. But it is a travel tripod, after all. 5 |

I purchased this lens to use on an A6000, which is my primary backpacking camera due to its size. I wanted a small, lightweight wide angle lens and decided to try the Samyang. For its primary use, wide landscape shots, I am very happy with it. It's accurate at the infinity stop (where it spends 99% of its time) and more than sharp enough when stopped down. I find f5.6 to f11 the best aperture range for my use. Feels solidly built. I do not shoot video, so I can't comment on video use. 5 |

I bought this camera cause I wanted a Full Frame camera and the size makes it perfect to have in any bag. From a backpacking bag to the trail running vest, plus it doesn't take up space. The pictures that I get with this camera are phenomenal! I have used it from product photography as well as for adventure photography and it is amazing. 5 |

This is essential if you are backpacking with a camera. It keeps the camera safe and ready. Now I don't have to worry about scrambling up rocks and having the camera on a strap lean into the rocks. It takes the weight off your neck when you aren't using the camera. I borrowed my neighbors for a 50 mile trip in Yosemite and decided to buy my own. 5 |

I got this for a 5 night 45 mile backpack trip in the High Sierra so I could get DSLR shots while hiking, not just at camp. It worked great and did not bounce around with the Nikon D750 and 18-35mm G lens I was using. It was a bit difficult to attach it to my full sized backpack strap but it did go on and then was secure for the whole trip. I was using hiking poles and the camera did not get in the way of the poleing motion. I even kept it attached while climbing over boulders on some off-trail passes. My only negative is that the sliding/snapping action did get less smooth after a few days. This could be due to tiny chips in the finish after sliding it in over and over. This is a must have for backpacking with a DSLR. I've been on lots of trips where my big camera sits in my pack all day and only gets used at camp or maybe at lunch and I have a point and shoot in my pocket for quick shots while on the move. I can now get DSLR shots while hiking and even faster than pulling a small camera or phone out of my pocket. The clip is a game changer for hiking and backpacking, the only problem is now I have even more shots to sort through. 5 |

I use it for backpacking. It works with my Sony A6000 camera. High quality product and super light. 5 |
