Fish Camp Weather Underground

I often take off for the weekend to camp and fish in areas of no services and few services. It's nice to have this to know that if an accident were to occur, I can quickly and easily activate emergency services. Plus, I can be accessed by family in an emergency.

I like to fish, camp, hike and bike in the summer and snowshoe in the winter. I have a great DSLR, but is too big to bring along on some of these ventures. I wanted something small and durable to throw in my boat, a backpack or put in my pocket. Picture quality is good, especially for outdoors. Has many features beyond the Auto mode. This serves my purposes very well.

Best GPS for motorcycles yet. The screen is brighter and more crisp. Easy to see in sunlight. Previous Garmin screens were terrible. The interface for weather and weather radar which taps into your mobile phone is great. Sharing routes with another XT through Bluetooth is a great feature. I’m lazy, I let my friends build the routes through Base Camp and then I show up and pull up beside them and turn on the Bluetooth route sharing. Only other feature I would like is to be able to down load a route that was created by the “track” feature. I’d like to download direct to a stick without having to go through Base Camp. The XT is the most feature rich GPS thus far. Several of my motorcycling friends purchase one as soon as they saw mine. Buy one, you won’t regret it.

I am very pleased that Nikon has recently introduced the 8-15mm Fish-eye Zoom lens. This is a great lens to have on your full-frame camera. I used the Nikon’s first 180-degree fish-eye lens in 1966 and have been a follower of these images for decades. I own and have used the Nikkor 10.5mm fish-eye for ten years, but have missed the round 180-degree image. The new 8-15mm fish-eye zoom lens provides many opportunities to capture exciting and unusual images. The zoom capabilities to 15mm provide a wide-angle fish-eye look that fills the frame. I believe this is an important lens to have for a photographer who wants to move beyond the ordinary. Some examples of photographs that I have captured during my first month with the lens includes: An editorial photograph during the first stage production after a four million dollar theater remodeling A portrait of a beautiful young lady who has great self-esteem and was willing to pose for a fun image Photographing from inside a kids “Crawling Tunnel”. I revisited images of Arthur Rothstein, Farm Security Administration, photos of the 1930’s with the new Nikkor 8-15mm Fish-eye Zoom lens. Can charge while driving between camp sights...

Great vest. I'm using it in an underground coal mine. It's like having an extra pair of hands. It distributes weight evenly. I use it for batteries, flashes, all sorts of accessories. There are no pockets for big lenses, but that's O.K. It would make the vest too heavy and cumbersome. It's pretty good at repelling lime and coal dust and water and is not likely to tear easily. Pockets are lined with soft material, which is easy on lenses. These vests are a little pricey, but worth it. They're professional gear and are made for rugged use.

Solid takes abuse perfect for poking the gopro into strange places underwater and underground.

So far so good! Using as a backup power supply for an underground dog fence and so far is working great.

We mostly use it to protect our lens for our camera at work, being as we drag the camera through steam tunnels, in mud trenches, inside underground vaults, and through all sorts of other environments. The filter screws on firmly to the end of the lens and protects the lens from scratches, dirt, dust, etc. without distorting any of the pictures.
