This is a great stand for studio or on-location use. The included counter-weight makes this very usable out the box. I wish the boom arm connected together with a locking ball type connection rather than screwing in. That would make it easier to break it down more for easier travel. If you're trying to fit this in a car or small SUV you'll have to take the boom arm apart. I think a simple travel bag and some adapters should come with it as well. It has a 5/8 thread. So know ahead of time what you're going to mount onto this and be sure you have the proper adapters if you need them. They're super cheap so you'll want to order them with this so you don't pay shipping on a $ adapter.

Great boom arm, it is only 43 inches but, is long enough for many uses in studio or on location. It is a lightweight boom arm designed to use with the newer smaller more compact strobe heads and it is very well made. You will need to have your own counter weight setup as this is a boom only. I own several other larger Manfrotto booms so, if you are using heavier strobe heads and need a lot of length then choose another boom.

In studio and some location use. The turtle base is a nice convenience for packing. Picked up the boom arm seperately and love it as well. Feel very confident in the boom stands stability with large modifiers over the Paul Buff boom used previously. Stand is very very solid and heavy duty. Buying another boom setup asap. If you're just planning on using it as a stand only without the need for a boom or the arm then for convenience you may be better served with another lighter portable stand. This is a bit much to lug around to locations regularly, especially if you have multiples. I use my Manfrotto's for that.

I use these for on location recording of choirs, and orchestras. Very little interfearence if any. This are an innexpensive cable that produces studio quality recordings. I used my Rode NT 5s and the sound was superior.

This is one of the most useful pieces of equipment I carry. It is a must for anyone recording or shooting out of the studio on location. Extremely rugged and dependable, clamps tight.

This dual mic capable boom arm has been fantastic. Sticking a pencil mic on each end and using it a recording studio mode rocks! Can wait to try it outdoors recording environment.

I had purchased an additional monitor to use in my recording studio. However, once I placed it into position behind my mixing board, I realized I was having great difficulty seeing all of the small icons on recording software. I only use reading glasses for small print up close but this monitor exposed the in between area of my eyesight that no prescription lenses can correct. So, I ordered the Ergotron monitor arm to try and rectify my issue. I was a bit hesitant about spending that much money for an extension arm but now I'm gad I did. This arm was so easy to set up even with my unusual shaped desk. It can be installed in a number of positions and I found the perfect spot for mine. It can be manipulated in a number of positions and angles for proper viewing and for moving it out of your way when necessary. It is built like a tank. It has a great cord rganizer which I really found useful since the monitor I'm using has six cables coming from it for use with all of my other peripherals. I don't know how I lived without it.

I use this studio arm to make recording of my voice - for my YouTube videos easier. I did have to pull the cable out a little further near the end - where the mic plugs in. In order to allow the best configuration of the mic (with an isolation mount attached) without crimping the cable end - near the connector. One little note is that if you use the extension arm, make sure to have the retaining screw at the base of the mount out as much as possible - also make sure that the arm is all the way in. It might be a little difficult to know when it's all the way in, just push it in until you know for certain that it is fully inserted into the mount. (When I first set up the studio arm - while using the extension arm. I thought it was all the way in, and it wasn't - which could have caused the studio arm to fall, which would have messed up my computer)
