If you are mixing music, don't second guess yourself and end up returning the HD650's for a pair of the HD600's. The 600 is for mixing on. You cannot mix in the 650's. The 650's have a very wide sound stage that isn't natural and a very enhanced low end and high end and scooped upper midrange which makes them sound too good not very far from accurate or flat. The HD600 is also way better than the Focal Spirit headphones. The HD280 would be my second choice. The HD600 has just a bit more detail and a more accurate sound stage. The HD280 is a little more mono sounding compared to the HD600. They both have a very accurate frequency response and I have had extremely good luck working with both sets of headphones. They are both way better than anything from Sony or AKG or Beyerdynamic or Focal or any of the other companies but do listen to them all for yourself. B&H has a great listening station down in New York and the staff there are very helpful in getting you the chance to hear all the headphones in person. They have most of the really top popular models on their listening station and it's well worth your time to listen to them all like I did before you make your decision.

As an audiophile have purchased tons of stuff over the years. The Focal headphones are the single best purchase I have ever made. I purchased them to accompany my FIIO HiRes Receiver and they perform in badassery fashion. Later I hooked them up to my Lenovo Carbon X-1 (Blade) Laptop and found it a killer combo too. Listening to Machine Gun (Hendrix), How Many More Times (Zeppelin), B.I.G. or Timbaland totally sick. Highly recommended.

This is one of the best headphones I have ever had the pleasure of owning. The refined sound signature is something that really agrees with my listening preference, practically no listening fatigue with them at all. At the same time, it's very involving with a wide and tall soundstage, rich textural mids and vocals and great bass and sub-bass extension, when called for. Perfect for any music genre really. The design and comfort is absolutely top notch as well. Note, if you prefer headphones with very strong highs/treble, these are not for you. The treble is accurate, yet laid back compared to other headphones which seem to need to shoot the treble in to your ears in the guise of being 'high resolution'. Sony really stepped it up in all respects with their Z1R headphones. They're made in an in-house artisan department within Sony as well, not mass produced. I bought a pair on a whim because I got tired of using Airpod Pros 2 IEMs to use while on the couch or in bed waiting for the kids to fall asleep. I am into the Audiophile hobby so I am nitpicky when it comes to sound but obviously for wireless devices I understand sacrifices have to be made. I own a Hifiman Susvara, a Focal Utopia, and Sennheiser HD800S, all of which are considered summit-fi headphones which I use when stationary at my audio stack at my PC Desktop so I know what good heaphones sound like. The headphones are slightly consumer tuned to be warmer on the bass region (typical) but not overly annoying. ANC isn't as good as Apple solutions but sound quality is leaps above it. The sound quality is definitely on par with Focal's sub-$1000 offerings and they are more resolving than my classic Sennheiser HD650 for sure. Where I find this shines is with the Sound Personalization feature in the app where it auto-EQs based on your hearing capability. If this is your only pair of audiophile grade headphones, you'll appreciate the DAC feature where you can plug it into your USB jack of your PC to feed a pure digital signal to the headphone's built in DAC/AMP, this is where I feel this headphone performs its best (though BT is still best in class amongst its wireless peers). For anyone who just needs a pair of audiophile wireless headphones that can be used as a wired version (USB or headphone jack) as well look no further. As of the latest firmware version I do not notice any delay playing music or content on my phone as other users have noted.

If you want headphones that are accurate and don't overly color your music, these are a nice option. From Focal: Their tonal balance and precision in terms of audio spectrum make them perfect to evaluate the sound work quality. I wanted headphones to give me the music as produced without a lot of added bass or other tonal enhancement. These met my expectations. Just make sure you have some power to back them up. Plugging them into your phone, tablet, or computer is not recommended. I did this to see how they would perform and it was not good. Once hooked up to my dedicated headphone amp, they sounded great.

I bought this for my son on his birthday. We’ve had other gaming headphones that I though we’re good, But when I used them ... wow it was superior sound. I might buy a set for me now.

I'm a professional audio engineer who owns a lot of headphones, but I also game in my free time. I tend to like Beyerdynamic cans for work but they can be fatiguing in a gaming environment with the din of war blaring. The X2 is very pleasant and smooth without abandoning accuracy. The depth of soundstage is remarkable. Tonal balance is even handed. They lack the subtle compression you get from most cans so you feel encouraged to turn them up, which is no problem because they are so smooth in the top end. Pair them with a vmoda boom pro for gaming. Well suited for mixing too. And, probably the best cans for the money when it comes to just enjoying music.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This gaming headset is great! The sound on these is amazing! I was playing sports video games like FIFA and it felt like I was really in the stadium. Other video games were equally as great. You could hear the faintest of sounds and this made the louder sounds even more intense. The sound quality is great and the microphone is equally as great. Anybody I played with online had an easy time hearing me. The gaming headset is super easy to setup and use as well. The wire-free set up is great and allows you to walk around without having to take off your headset or bring your controller. The battery life is also long and something I appreciate. The headset is very easy to use and has convenient volume controls right on the headset. Perhaps an underrated feature of this headset, is the ability to have great sound without disturbing anybody. You can play video games without annoying anyone else in the room. Also, I used these headphones to watch TV/movies on my gaming console without waking up anyone in my house like I used to when using my TV speakers. Lastly, these are very comfortable! I wore them for hours and never once experienced discomfort. I usually do not like over the ear headphones so the fact I never had any problems and actually enjoyed wearing these shows how comfortable they are! I could not recommend this product enough!

These are some really good headphones. I use these primarily for PC gaming with voice chat. Audio in the headphones is very clear and has a good balance of bass & treble. Good mic as well; my buddy who I game with can hear me clearly. The cushions are also pretty comfortable. I’ve gamed several hours at a time while wearing glasses with minimal to no discomfort. The HyperX PC app is very intuitive. It helps control settings like mic monitoring (which I usually turn on) and equalizer and shows an accurate battery percentage. Battery life is crazy long. I been using these approx. a month off the initial charge, gaming around 20-30 hours a week and I still have about 60% charge.
