Formatting Usb Flash Drive For Car Stereo Mac

I was looking for a flash drive with a small physical size to plug into the USB port on my car stereo. I didn't want a standard size flash drive that would stick out from my stereo, and inevitably get broken off while I was reaching for the glove box. This was exactly what I was looking for. It's so small it just looks like it's part of the stereo, and 16GB is more than enough to hold my entire music collection.

So far so good. The drive is very small, which I like. Since I am a Mac guy, formatting the drive for mac was very easy. I simply went to Mac disk utility and hit erase, and it formatted to MAC OS Journaled. I am now backing my MacBook Pro laptop and everything seems great. Thank you B&H Photo!

Use this drive to listen to music through my car stereo's usb port. Works flawlessly and the retractable cover makes for a compact design. Great alternative to a dedicated mp3 player for car trips and can also use for file transfers and backup when needed.

Aesthetically, this drive looks identical to my Mac Mini. The unit looks super sleek when stacked under my drive. I had the 8TB custom built for back-up purposes primarily and it seems extremely responsive with TimeMachine scheduled back-ups. The drive isn't what I would call silent, you definitely hear this drive if you're at the workstation while it's writing but it's not distracting at all. Set-up and formatting was incredibly easy. The auto formatting software comes on the drive. Plug it in, go through the set-up prompts (pick either IOS or PC) and you're good to go. Good device. Hope it lasts since I've never paid this much for an ED ever.

I'm a Mac user, so this WD hard drive worked really well after a very simply formatting. Plenty of storage, and it works great!

Been using the drive for a few weeks, there was no issues formatting the drive on the Mac. Provides a lot of storage for a great price.

After I purchased this 16GB USB drive, I have been formatting it with Windows XP's Format, and HP's Flash Storage Tools, so far, no issues. I like the retractable USB plug design, but, on the other hand, worried about the durability of this kind of design. I have had my older Kingston DataTraveler 8GB USB drive with similar retractable design for more than a year, though, a bit loosen, still works.

This is my third Transcend USB 3 Portable Drive. Love how small, quiet and portable they are. I recommend formatting them to exFat before putting data onto them, so that you can go from Mac to PC easily. Never had any problems, tho I always backup to a second drive for peace of mind.

Update can be done without old CPU with USB flash drive only.
