Framing And Composition In Photography

Bought this lens to challenge myself in regards to framing/composition/etc. and I could not be more pleased. The lens is fast and works great in low light, plus it gives you a lot to play with in regards to depth of field. Overall I think this is a great addition to my kit.

I have been using ball heads for about 6 years. I do mostly landscape, astro, macro photography. Wow! I wish I had started using gearheads a long time ago. Ball heads, even really good ones, can still dip and mess up your composition after locking off, especially when zoomed at high magnifications. This gear head eliminates that issue. With very precise controls, you can get your composition perfectly without worry of it dipping after locking off. This is more for slow shooting so I wouldn’t use this for sports or wildlife where you need to act quickly. But for its purpose, it is great!

This lens gives an artistic perspective of any space or composition. This is the wide angle lens I use in my photography. These photos were taken with my Nikon D700.

I often print sets of similar macro photography for multi framing on 5x7, and this paper gives me gorgeous and consistent prints.

My desire to learn framing, along with my passion for photography, led me to purchase this unit, and am I glad I did! While it takes a little RTFM, the overall set up, is pretty intuitive. Reading reviews from (some) others, made me a little apprehensive about the build quality and durability, but I can tell you, the nit pickers out there are WRONG! There are ample warnings about over tightening knobs, and if you are inclined to criticize because you don't believe what the manual says, shame on you! BUT....the 750-1 Simplex Elite Mat Cutter also comes with an instructional DVD and a how to book. Couldn't ask for moreThis model has everything you need to start cutting the materials needed for framing, i.e. mats, matboard, etc. and they even threw in a glass/acrylic cutter + a paper trimmer. Learning how to cut mats without over/under cutting, is an experience and practice, practice, practice thing.The product does what it is supposed to do, and I would HIGHLY recommend this to someone who wants to mat and frame their artwork/pictures, etc.

I had used the same model in a matting and framing class at our local photography club, so I knew what to expect and only had to refresh my knowledge a bit with online instructional videos before use. Assembly is very easy. The cutter is well-made and fairly easy to use. Bending over the device while cutting can lead to back strain after a while but the only alternatives are the wall-mounted commercial cutters which cost a fortune. Overall, a well-designed product that gets the job done.

This was a great purchase I made! Coming from a filmmaking background I was always interested in framing the images, so I started my photography company this year after I sold my Pocket 6k and purchased this instead. I was getting more photography requests anyway. The camera feels great, looks great and personally I love the film simulations, especially the Bleach Bypass for moody shots and Pro Neg Std for my portraits. Also having the flip screen that doesn't get in my way is a plus when shooting! Overall this, the 16-55 f2.8 plus lightroom have made my job so enjoyable and the old school feel makes me take my time to think my shots through first!

Very happy with the lens. I use it for architectural photography for setting up tight shots and framing them carefully. Fast lens allows low light use. Sharp lens with great construction.

Perfect on my monopod, makes composition a breeze.

Great for framing
