Plug and go, I have never had a problem with Canon's Ink cartridges.

I have tried other cartridges and they come out gray. I know Canon ink will be black.

Not much to say about ink cartridges, except that they are exactly what they should be.

This ink combo pack is the original ink from the manufacturer. It produces sharp prints in both color and black & white. These extra large (XL) cartridges last longer than the standard cartridges I find at local big box stores. Also, included with the ink is a free package of 4 x 6 inch photo paper. I've been very happy with this ink and have bought it numerous times from B & H Photo (fast free shipping).

The Epson Eco-Tank ET-8500 is a multi-function, and cartridge-free printer, it does a great job with both documents and pictures. The size of the printer is perfect, it isn't big and bulky, and fits nicely in our home office. A key feature of this printer is that it takes bottles of ink instead of cartridges. And filling the printer with ink is easy and fast, simply place the ink bottles in their correct locations, and watch the tank fill up.The bottles of ink have specialized valves that don't allow them to spill even if they tip over. You can also visually see how much ink you have left, and the bottles of ink are so much more economical than the cartridges. Set up was made very simple by using my iPhone as well as the Epson app. I was guided through the various steps via the app, which by the way are easy to follow and understand. I opted to connect my printer to my WIFI, although there are several other choices, and in no time at all I was ready to start printing. There is a lot to like with this large format printer, larger scanner, convenient color touchscreen, and a memory card slot. There are also two trays in the front of the printer, one is for 8 X 11 paper, the other is for photo paper. There is also one rear feed tray for other kinds of paper. You can also set up and operate your printer with your smartphone, it is compatible with either iOS or Android. To date the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8500 has been a dream to use, the print quality has been outstanding, and no paper jams. I would highly recommend this printer.
