It does what it says. It has real knobs and that is a plus in this age of encoders and up/down volume buttons with a fixed rate of change. I used it to add an extra zone to a home theater receiver for a fraction of the cost of typical power amps. Single input also keeps it simple. 5 |

With my Sony AX700 the Libec zoom control is much better than the camcorder's, giving a smoother transition from start to stop and between speed variations. That whole aspect seems to work much better than Sony's built in. The focus control is constructed so that the rate of change of focal length varies from going out quickly on the telephoto side and slowing down dramatically approaching the shortest focal length. This makes a lot of sense. One would not want to have the rate of change be the same between 6 and 12 feet distance or 30 and 36 feet or 70 and 76 feet. However, the rate of change in close is very slow, as one reviewer complained, and might have even caused another reviewer to think it wasn't working with their camera. I think it would take a gadget costing a great deal more to have an adjustable speed. This one still gets 5 stars by me at this price point 5 |
