I got this for my 92-year-old father, who lives roughly 15 miles south of Los Angeles. It works well with great reception all around (AM & FM). No problem working the tuner knob. The volume control protrudes enough to be easily accessible and easy to operate. It is loud enough to be heard across his backyard (70 feet). This model does what it claims to do.
