G85 Camera Stabilization Olympus Lenses

Before you spend more you might want to try out this lens. I spent more...WAY more...for Zeiss glass and L series lenses and my Olympus Pro series 12-40mm lens. While they're all good...so is this lens. Don't let the low price fool you. This lens is well made and I'm completely satisfied with the pictures it provides. Yes, it's a manual focus only lens...but I like that. I use it with my Olympus OM-D E-M1 mirrorless camera. That camera has in-body image stabilization and the ability to zoom in to make it easy to get perfect focus every time. The image stabilization makes me forget I'm 73 years old and sometimes a bit shaky. To top it all off this silver lens looks great on my silver bodied E-M1 (shown with lens, a cheap generic lens hood, and an RRS L plate).

I have been using a Panasonic G85 and even though its much lighter than a full frame, it's still a bit of weight to carry around when hiking. The Sony ZV-1 solved that problem for me. It's light and produces both great video and pictures. The only downside is the stabilization is nowhere as good as Panasonics so walking shots are difficult to do without turning on digital stabilization which crops quite a bit.

The combined OIS and IBS stabilization on my Panasonic G85 gives this lens at least 5 stops of increased sharpness. The hand held photos in good light look like they were taken on a sturdy tripod. This is a fun lens to walk around. Just get this lens. Your SLR FF 300mm 2.8 lens will not get as much use.

This lens is beautiful. The depth of field is super nice, and even though it lacks stabilization, the G85's built in stabilization makes up for it. I bought this lens instead of getting the 25mm because with a MFT sensor, the 20mm ends up being like a 40mm. I know the benefits to a 50mm, but a lot of directors prefer 40mm (full frame). Here's a great article about it. http://noamkroll.com/28mm-lenses-the-secret-ingredient-for-achieving-a-film-look/

Is a great camera is compact and the stabilization image-sensor works great. Is my second Olympus camera after ten years. I choose buy another because the Olympus optic is one of the best and the 4/3 system is great because I can use hall of my lenses.

I got this adapter to use my old Canon lenses with my new Panasonic G85. Works pretty good. The metal interface on the lens side fits perfectly. On the camera side there is a tiny rotational slop after it clicks into place, but I can't see how that would effect anything. Of course, there is no communication between lenses and camera - no image stabilization, autofocus or aperture control. But still a great bargain if you don't need your lens to talk to your camera.

Got this as my first mirrorless camera and it's surprisingly well built with a plethora of functions. I really don't think it's a vlogging camera as advertised but its a great all rounder. One big disadvantage of this model is the lack of IBIS for stills. Depending on your intended use, I highly recommend you get a gimbal stabilizer and/or a lens which has built-in stabilization. Also be aware that 4K capture with the built in stabilization will crop the video significantly. To fully take advantage of this camera you definitely need good glass. Particularly anything from f1.2-1.8 for low light situations since this has a smaller sensor. I completely ignored the kit lens and got 2 sigma lenses - 16mm and 30mm f1.4 lenses along with a Lumix 45-150m f4 zoom lens. Thanks B&H for the great service. Adios.
