I've been using a 4k screen for a couple of years, but it was a Samsung TV as I wanted a larger screen and nothing in the monitor space yet existed. It was a good experience, I didn't have any issues - regardless of what people say about using TVs as monitors. However, once I noticed that OLED monitors were coming around, I considered going back. I wasn't crazy about dealing with burn-in and the odd ways manufactures try to prevent it. Instead, I wanted to see what Samsung was up to in the gaming monitor space. I came across this and was immediately drawn in because of the high fresh rate and it being 4k. I didn't consider the G8 because I didn't think the even higher refresh rate warranted the extra cost. Once I got the G7 connected, it was like playing games for the first time. Cyberpunk looked incredibly better than my 4k TV, colors popped and I could see details that I couldn't previously. The curvature is a bit odd at first, especially in Windows, but for gaming, I really like it. The high refresh rate was a new experience as well - I hadn't had anything higher than 60Hz, so again it was a new experience. This makes a big different not only in gaming, but using Windows - everything is so smooth. The height adjustment was another helpful feature as I needed it to be in a specific place. Without it, I would have had to use a box or something else unsightly. I'm not an RGB person, but found that I liked messing with the colors and do leave a solid color on most of the time. My only complaint, is the buttons to control the settings. I have some business monitors for work that are also Samsung and they use the same buttons. It's not my favorite and it feels a bit cheap. For an $1100 monitor, I'd expect a bit more, but it's not something I use often. I feel the monitor is on the expensive side, but it is worth it if you have the machine to push high end graphics to it.

I switched from 2 4K monitors to this & love it. I use the dual inputs while working and the entire screen for gaming. More space on the desktop & more immersive gamibg

Iv had this monitor for a few years and has always worked great. Have used it for gaming and work and never fails to impress. With the use of freesync you can improve the Hz.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung Odyssey G7 is excellent for gaming. It has a native 240Hz refresh rate, FreeSync support, and is compatible with NVIDIA's G-SYNC. The response time at its max refresh rate and 60Hz are excellent, resulting in minimal blur. Its narrow viewing angles make it less ideal for co-op gaming, but luckily, it displays deep blacks if you want to game in the dark. Excellent response time. Native FreeSync support and G-SYNC compatibility. Great contrast ratio. Incredibly low input lag

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung OLED G8 is excellent for gaming. It can reach a 175Hz refresh rate, with the support of FreeSync variable refresh rate and G-SYNC compatibility. The lightning-quick response time makes for smooth motion handling. The curved screen provides an immersive gaming experience. The perfect contrast ratio is great for gaming in dark rooms, as blacks are deep and inky. On the other hand, blacks look purple in bright environments. It also has a low input lag, so gaming on this monitor is responsive. PROS Near-infinite contrast ratio. Buttery-smooth motion. FreeSync VRR support with G-SYNC compatibility. CONS Ambient light causes blacks to have a purple tint. Risk of burn-in with static elements.

I was searching for a monitor to replace my aging HP ZR30w and wanted something similar in size but with much smaller bezels, true 4K resolution (1440p is too low for 32 IMHO), no-frills design, and FreeSync support, preferably with Low Framerate Compensation due to the 4K resolution. This monitor nails everything I was looking for and more. Not only does it have everything above, but it also has a fantastic stand (height/tilt/pivot/swivel), a hood you can optionally install to reduce glare, reduced blue-light mode to reduce eyestrain, and more. It also has little things like the ability to turn off the power-on LED and a great OSD design with full control. Oh, and it is perfectly calibrated from the factory to be considered a PRO monitor, it's primary use case which for me is just a bonus! Issues: Yes, it is not without quirks. One is a known issue when using a DisplayPort cable (which you must use to enable FreeSync) - basically, about once per day, the monitor will wink at you - blank out for about 1.5 seconds - and then come back on. Yes, this is weird, but since it only does it about once per day I can live with it, and I think a possible future firmware update might resolve it. It has a three-year warranty if it ever gets worse, so I will accept it given all the other virtues. The other flaw is related to long-term color bleeding at the edges that have been reported on this and other LG panels. I think it takes years for this to show up, and it isn't clear if it will affect all panels, but again with the warranty I'll take my chances - mine has zero bleed of any kind to my eyes. This monitor has an MSRP of over $1,000 which is high, and in the current market something around $750 is more appropriate, but at $569 is a tremendous value. There is a similar Dell for sale that is closer to $800 but does not have FreeSync! Go for this one!

Those who want this to buy for gaming, buy a GAMING MONITOR! This is for art not gaming unlike someone who thinks it's for both. There are HDR gaming monitors out there.
