Garageband On Apple Computer

I bought this mike to record a grand piano via Apple's GarageBand. The results have been excellent: good sound level, good frequency response, good pickup pattern (hypercardioid, quiet pre-amp, and nice construction. All of this at a good price. I couldn't be more satisfied.

Apple is always user friendly - from built in Apps for home office to Garageband to accepting Microsoft products. I deleted many things to free up storage. I bought Lightning to SD Card Camera andLightning to USB 3.0 Camera Adapter to use my Medeli digital Piano with Garageband. This also works with my Ion Audio Bluetooth Speakers - and partially with Zagg Keyboard Cover for IPad 7th and 8th Gen - only the Zagg Shift key features don't work with this. To compensate, I saved $100 and rely on Apple's built in Touch Screen Keyboard. Portable...

My newest computer, prior to this one, is a MacBook Pro 13 Mid 2012. I also have a Mac Pro 2008, which this one is replacing, and an iMac Power PC G4, which I intend to utilize while accessing my AppleWorks business records, from the Mac Pro, and use my old Photoshop non-subscription software. As you can see, these Apple products have an extremely long life! I wanted the faster M2 Pro processor and the additional ports that this iteration afforded me. Even then, I picked up the Satechi Mac Mini Hub, for a few more, plus the additional SSD space. I'll use that for Time Machine backup. Please note, the Satechi ports don't recognize my ancient iPod (I use that to review my GarageBand mixes (see below) for eventual distribution via CD Baby. I'm also using a Samsung T7 external SSD, for GarageBand, and it's been working flawlessly without the need to copy this files to the 1TB internal SSD of the Mac Mini. I already had a wired Apple keyboard, Logitech wireless mouse and a Samsung S24B240 display 1920 x 1080 display, which looks great! The speeds have been very much welcome, including start up and accessing any program I've thrown at it, so far. I recommend this machine for any music and video professional, while saving a little money, to boot!

Setup was very easy for this microphone. It is a simple plug & play use. I tested it with garageband on a mac computer and audacity on a windows computer. Both worked seamlessly. The audio recording quality was better than I expected for paying this price on a microphone. Vocal recording is very nice (singing/podcast type applications). Acoustic guitar recording sounded great. Acoustic guitar was about 8 feet away from the mic when testing it out. I imagine fine tuning my recording process will only make it sound better. I used the mic to record a band practice session. I just placed the mic in the center of the room and played around it. The mic worked surprisingly well to pick up the instruments (recorded in garageband). Obviously this technique is not going to sound amazing but it is better than I have recorded other times with a TASCAM device or other microphone into a computer. The overload led light is nice to visually show you when the microphone input volume is set too high. I have been typically running at 20-30% when testing up-close vocals. So it shows there is an input range to work with. The microphone base stand is a nice simplistic setup. It does limit the positioning of the microphone on there but I believe this is what is intended. The stand will not allow for a horizontal positioning of the mic. Since I do not need the feature and do not think the stand was intended to do that, I did not take away from the rating. I recommend this microphone for anyone looking to have a usb microphone as a step above the bottom line microphones but do not want to spend money in the $100-$150 range. I imagine it would compete with those in terms of audio quality. If you wanted anything better than this, I would say to think about spending over $150.

I use this microphone for audio podcasts and have found the quality to be excellent. I directly record into GarageBand on my MAC. The connection to the computer was as simple as plugging in any USB device and was up and running in seconds. The quality for this price made this an excellent purchase. I bought a pop filter and stand to go with it to make a great combo.

I use this to connect my controller piano keyboard to my computer for Garageband and Logic. It's long enough to reach across the room. The cable is strong and the housing is thick enough to protect it well.

One of those things you need to have, but wish Apple would include with your computer. Works great.
