Padded legs make all the difference in cold weather by insulating your hands from the heat transfering to the tripod legs. They also are a real shoulder saver when hiking with a large lens mounted on the tripod. Even with a larger lens like the Nikkor 600mm f4.0, I just lay it over my shoulder and hike to the next subject of interest. With the tripod leg pads, it is quite feasible if not completely comfortable. 5 |
