As a camera geek, I own (and have owned) a lot of cameras. The main advantage of this camera is its unmatched versatility. It does it all. Macro is spectacular, zooming in on subjects far away is exceptional, video is great, and picture quality in everything but very low light is excellent. And even in very low light pictures are very acceptable because it has a much faster lens than most kit lenses. The camera is addicting in that it is fun to use and you get shots you wouldn't normally get. It's about the size and weight of a basic, low-end DSLR with a kit lens, but it does so much more. One camera and it gets almost every shot. I also have a Sony RX100 VI. I use that camera when I go hiking, e.g., when I need something small and light. But for everything else, the RX10 IV is my go-to camera. I like it so much that I might start using it even when hiking (day hikes, not when backpacking) because it's incredible zoom allows for shots that most other cameras just can't get. 5 |
