Gifts For Film Students

I've bought nearly 30 of these tripods over the last few years. Mostly for beginning photography students, but also as gifts for family and friends. They offer a great range of positioning options and stand up well under the frequent abuse of beginning photography students. When parts go missing, which happens frequently with students, replacements are readily available. Moreover all screws, nuts & bolts are easily found at any hardware store. Dollar for dollar by far the best tripod you'll find anywhere. 5 |

I have one of these Flex Shades in each of my pro camera cases. I give them as gifts. I recommend them to my students at my studio photography classes. i use them for every outdoor portrait session that I do. How did I live with out them? 5 |

As a photography teacher I use this film with high school students who have never shot on film before. I have found this film to be the best compromise between quality and value, I highly recommend it. In addition, the 400 film speed is perfect for students just learning to use old 35mm film cameras. If only it wasn't to expensive to develop and print these days! 5 |

I was lucky and privileged being able buy the last few boxes of this product available at B&H. I understand that there have been some production issues and this product is no longer available. As a committed user of this product, I would like to add my voice to others, inciting Harman/Ilford to do their best to resume production and distribution of this truly valuable and unique product as soon as possible. In a world of digital perfection and impermanence, there are still many, like myself, able to value and make the best of this beautiful paper as an in-camera-positive. Whenever I teach alternative photography workshops, I can have my students experiment more with this paper, due to the much lower price than 4x5 sheet film. Also, students are able to follow and learn the entire loading/unloading and development procedure under safelight, which is something extremely beneficial for those who just begin to learn darkroom techniques. Well, I could go on and on, singing praises of Harman Direct Positive paper and the need for this product to be re-introduced on the market. But, poetry aside, merely from a business point of view, I would ask Harman Ilford not to fail analog photographers like other companies have done before. You are the last company we can consistently trust for the best Black and White film stocks and papers. As I am sure your research and development department must know, there is currently a rather big resurgence in analog (and alternative) photography techniques, worldwide and your help would be very welcome, right now. My humble request is not just about saving a niche (albeit unique) product, it is about asking your help in preserving a photographic practice and tradition that can only be passed on to future generations until specific tools and media remain available. Sincerely, G S 5 |

Versatile & heavy duty. I use these for the cameras I loan out to students in my film production courses, so they go through a lot of hands. I've never had one fail. Great product by a great company (still made in the US). 5 |

The Rokinon cine lenses are the best option for both film students and pros, because with a low budget you can access to an awesome film look with a really sharp lens, really fast and with an awesome construction. Particulary this focal lenght gives you a really special view of your characters, you can get really creative with it and the price its just amazing! 5 |

...going to buy this product again, 4x5 film is hard to find, we need it for college. We have low funds as students and we spend crazy money for photography. 5 |

This paper was used to teach two groups of students how film and sensors work at fine arts camps this summer. Not only were the students amazed, we saw some creative cyanotype photograms. Ww also made a set of 12 limited edition sun prints from a 44 year old litho negative that was made from an image of the taken at the camp. The students came away with a greater appreciation of early photo pioneers like Thomas Wedgewood, photo chemical safety and and ease of use of digital cameras.. One caution, handle with care, use developing trays and make sure hands after washed after rinsing prints in water. 5 |
