Gimbal Tripod Head

Excellent Gimbal Head for my Manfrotto tripod.

The Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II with Quick Release Base if the BEST tripod head ever. This without a doubt has made my use of my tripod so much easier and my photo taking experience much more successful. This tripod head is well worth the money. You will not be disappointed.

This Tripod and Gimbal Head is amazing. This is my 1st Gimbal head, and with only using for a very short while, 2 weeks, I can say it's a keeper. The rotation with my Nikon 200-500 lens is as smooth as silk. I have a L-bracket for my second camera so I can easily make the switch without changing heads on the tripod. I'm Still getting use to the legs on the tripod, my 1st tripod with the twist legs. I am finding it a little harder to carry from spot to spot due to the head being larger, but I'm sure I will adjust to it. Just takes time to know how to position it on my shoulder. I hang a sandbag on it when I'm shooting birds in my garden or I can hang my backpack on it when elsewhere. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, especially for tracking birds.

I bought the Gimbal head for my 600mm f4L lens. Once the lens is properly balanced, the gimbal head works so well that I can use very slow shutter speeds even when the head isn't tightly locked. In other words, I can quickly pan in all directions and not lock down the adjustments. This surprised me since with most tripod/tripod heads, any excuse for vibration causes blurring. Not with this head. I use the head with a very heavy duty tripod, but I think the gimbal head works so well because the lens is perfectly balanced around its center of gravity.

After, explaining to B & H, what set up, I would like to be fixed up with, they recommended the LE-60 Leveling Base, for my heavy tripod legs and my GH2 Gimbal Head. The level will fit between the Gimbal head and the top of my tripod legs. It was an easy set up, I just took my time, as I am a 63 year old woman, who has just retired, and plan on great photos, with my new photography hobby. It will be easier on the sides of uneven roads or banks and cliffs, to level the tripod and head, instead of having to adjust the tripod legs, it comes with a allen screw, which, will help with the adjusting, my lens is heavy, weighing in at 5 pounds besides the camera and Gimbal Head attached on top. I plan on using the tripod for wildlife and landscapes, at long distances. This set up is not real heavy for me, but, I would not be carrying it to far. I love the experience with shopping with B & H, and anyone needing something heavy duty for their camera needs, would love this company. If you are unsure what to order, give them a chance to help you, you will not be disappointed.

The Gitzo Gimbal Fluid Head is something I should have purchased years ago. I was struggling with a cheaper tripod head that didn't hold its position--ever. I compensated but was frustrated. The Gitzo head holds it position if I raise or lower my 5oo mm lens/camera or if I pan or if I do both together. I'm happy I decided to spend the money to get a quality tripod head. I enjoy photographing wading birds like great blue herons and this Gitzo tripod head makes it easier to get the shot I imagen.
