Good Camera For Image Stabilization

Good image quality with excellent stabilization

The camera body feels good, like a lightweight but well built and solid DSLR. The image stabilization is fantastic, I can shoot some nice videos of baby moving around handheld with one hand only. The kit lens performs well for video, but I don't like it so much for stills.

The first thing I noticed using this camera is that the image stabilization actually works - it visible in the view finder as your recording. This is important to me as I use it outside to shoot action shots so much of it is hand held while on the move. Of course the image looks wonderful on the little screen/vew finder, but it's when you play it back on your TV or large computer monitor that you can see the difference that the canon lens and 1/3 chip make. This camera is NOT a toy - it's for real - the images are crystal clear. Unbelievably good camera at any price but ridiculously good at this price. My only complaint is they put too many silly extras in the menus (like the ability to draw stuff on the image - kid stuff. It's a minor annoyance though - don't let it stop you from getting this camera is your primary interest is in exceptionally good video images and surprisingly good built in audio recording. This camera allows me to use my vintage cameras with image stabilization. I am also impressed with the performance of my E series lens.. The feature set is far superior to the make of camera I have been using since 1986.

Before you spend more you might want to try out this lens. I spent more...WAY more...for Zeiss glass and L series lenses and my Olympus Pro series 12-40mm lens. While they're all good...so is this lens. Don't let the low price fool you. This lens is well made and I'm completely satisfied with the pictures it provides. Yes, it's a manual focus only lens...but I like that. I use it with my Olympus OM-D E-M1 mirrorless camera. That camera has in-body image stabilization and the ability to zoom in to make it easy to get perfect focus every time. The image stabilization makes me forget I'm 73 years old and sometimes a bit shaky. To top it all off this silver lens looks great on my silver bodied E-M1 (shown with lens, a cheap generic lens hood, and an RRS L plate).
